As far as Silver Age Titans go, it's no more or less ridiculous than most DC Silver Age stuff... the only thing is the 'hip' dialogue.. as long as you can deal with that, you'll enjoy them. I haven't read much DC Silver Age (except for, maybe, one issue), but I cannot imagine it being much worse than Marvel's Silver Age stuff. Is it? Silver age can be very hit or miss with me. I think I have a way better appreciation for it now than I did when I first started reading comics, though.

If by 'worse' you mean 'sillier' or 'more silver age-y' than yes, DC is 'worse', in my opinion.
You definitely have to be in a particular mind set, and I enjoy them alot more in small doses than all at once, but they have a definite unique charm.

I love that micro-run in Madhouse. Only three issues, but all with Morrow covers, and with that fantastically awesome logo.

Is Comix International Warren's version of Heavy Metal, with a bunch of European translations?

Time for another "haul" post. Yesterday was FCBD nationwide, of course. A chain with several stores locally had a sale in observance. I scavenged bargain boxes (mostly marked at US$1.00), and at sale prices, I ended up paying only half. Here's what I bought, in more or less chronological publication order: John Carter Warlord of Mars 3 (in beautiful shape!) Master of Kung Fu 80 All-Star Squadron 3, 23, 46, 65 Arak Son of Thunder 2, 22, 30 Az 2 Iron Man 175 DC Comics Presents 65 The New Mutants Special Edition 1 The Avengers 270 Captain America 320, 385, 386 Tales of the Teen Titans 60 Blue Devil 31 Secret Origins 16, 17, 21, 23 Fantastic Four 304, 305, 307, 314, 315, 318 Thor 380, 386, 387, 403, 413, 449 The Doom Patrol 6, 10 The Young All-Stars 12, 14 Marvel Comics Presents 15 The Maze Agency 17 Retief 6 (Adventure Comics) Incredible Hulk 370, 383, 390, 391, 394, 395, 437, 438, 439, 440, 442, 443, 445, 446, 447, 451, 465 Iron Man 279 X-Men Classic 58, 63, 64 Silver Sable 16, 17 The Strangers 2, 12 Hard Case 5 The Night Man 4 Ms. Mystic 2 (Nov. 1993) Wrath 6 Giant-Size Freex 1 Captain America 454 Excalibur 124 Fantastic Four 16 (April 1999; closing a persistent hole in my collection) The Brave and the Bold 6 (March 2000) X-Men the Movie Prequel: RogueX-Men the Movie Prequel: WolverineJSA 7, 31, 33, 35, 40, 42, 43, 67, 73 Marvel Universe 1, 2 (These are renamed newsstand versions of some Hulk title.) Rising Stars 1/2 Uncanny X-Men 457 Fantastic Four 533 Ultimate Spider-Man 105, 122 Justice Society of America 29, Annual 1 Wolverine Origins 33, 34, 46, 47, 48, 49 Incognito 1, 2 Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? 10, 11 The Shade 2 1:10 (?) variant AVX 2 (2nd print) All in all, not too bad for what I paid. awesome haul

Just found a VF copy of the long-out-of-print X-Men: From the Ashes TPB for cover price. The Claremont/Paul Smith run is one of my favorites. I have the original issues, but wanted the trade as a reader/lender. Good Idea about having the TPB as a reader copy

Guess what I finally tracked down! Woot! I am now just missing the 1981 calendar to have the full set of classic Marvel calendars. This Dr. Strange calendar from 1980 is similar to the 1979 Hulk calendar in terms of format, as the 12 illustrations recreate key moments from Doc's past, in chronological order. So it starts with his training with the Ancient One, then fighting Nightmare for the first time, then Dormammu, Eternity, etc. through the key moments in Doc's history up to that point. As with the other calendars, one of the coolest parts is seeing the amazing art from Marvel's top artists, many of whom never really worked on Doctor Strange in the comics. For instance, there are illustrations from Bill Sienkievicz and John Byrne among others. Those others also include this back cover by Frank Miller! And this depiction of Doc assisting the Avengers against Surter and Ymir from Avengers #61, as rendered by the great Avengers artist George Perez! There's also a sweet drawing of Dr. Strange fighting Dracula by none other than Gene Colan. Who else? I forgot to take a picture of that one, though. WOW Awesome
