In the mid-1970s, DC published a Limited Collector’s Edition of 1940s Dick Tracy comic strips. When I lived in Hollywood in the 1990s, one of my neighbors had it because he was a big Dick Tracy fan. I would go to his apartment in the morning and he would make coffee and I would read a few pages of Dick Tracy. I did this several times a week for a few months until I finished. I think it was the Flattop storyline. I’ve loved Dick Tracy ever since. That sounds wonderful~ Up and Atom! Radioactive Man 1-6; missing issue 7. But I'm happy I found these for an affordable price. That was a great series. I think it only ran 6 issues. They did do a second series in 99/00 (I had issues #100 and #222), ish 100 was really fun because it's set up as a nostalgia trip for Comic Book Guy reminiscing over his tattered copy of #100 that he has for sale that Bart and Milhouse want to buy

Later on, they released issues with numbering to connect with this series but were really One shots.

That's another possibly re-purchase.

I believe this was the first 'full-colour' MAD which collected all the Star Wars parodies up to 1999. Not to turn this into a colour vs B&W take but I do like the coloured versions a whole lot.

Mort Drucker was the best. I have been reading the DC Goes to War! collection, and there's a Mort Drucker illustrated story... so weird to see a "serious" comic with art that is OBVIOUSLY Drucker... pretty cool. I couldn't find an example from the story in the volume, but here's a page from online... You can really see him leaning into his masterful caricature style...

I believe England's bronze-age Super Spider-Man Captain Britain series lasted 23 issues (231-253) before reverting to Super Spider-Man. Getting them in NM is a chore but this batch of 16 in very nice condition takes me up to 20 issues from the series.
The Captain Britain series before it, which started in 1976 is super-expensive because of the rumours that he might be in the MCU.

I bought the Captain Britain tpb a few years back. I had a hard time getting through it.

I bought the Captain Britain tpb a few years back. I had a hard time getting through it. The little I've read of the early stories, I found them quite clunky too. I don't think it's until Alan Moore comes on board that we get truly excellent Captain Britain stories -- though I would add the caveat that I haven't read all of the pre-Moore stories, but that's my general impression.

A new issue Spidey costs $4.00...or you can sift around a bit and find a $29.99 184pg Hardcover still sealed for the same $4. The green sticker is on the plastic-wrap, not the book. This reprints ASM 583-588....I have all of them but hey, a Spidey HC for that cheap is a steal.

Inched a little closer this weekend to completing my Jonah Hex series. Picked up issues #51 and #92, and while I probably overpaid a little for each of these, I haven't bought any classic comics in at least four months, so I had some money saved and figured that my want list is short enough that it wouldn't kill me to get what I wanted when I had the opportunity to do it.
This leaves me just one more to go in the form of #91, which I can't remember the last time I saw one in the wild. I hate to go the eBay route, but if I don't find one in the next few months of my hunt, I may have to break down and just do it.

So that Matt Baker book (Teen Age Romances 27) arrived today, as well as the handful of other books I picked up to round up the order to make shipping palatable. Here's what I got... True Love #2 awesome Brent Anderson cover with Alex Toth romance reprint story inside... I stumbled across a listing for this fantasy/sci-fi anthology on mycomicshop a while back and the covers were evocative of Frazetta, but I had never seen an issue, so I grabbed this one to sample... and finally filled in the issues of Incognito and Incognito: Bad Influences that I needed. This is the one Brubaker/Phillips series I have never read and don't own in trade, so I grabbed the singles on the cheap... Nothing spectacular, but love me some Baker and Toth. -M
