So my birthday prizes came earlier than expected. Very excited to dig into each of them. Still hard to believe that the IDW TMNT reboot is ten years old now

It NEEDS a quality collected reprint. Is that one of the things that's hard to reprint because of licensing? (Of course, we thought that of Captain Action as well and it finally happened, though not--I believe--from DC.) Atari licenses stuff out for a song, I doubt that it would be that difficult to get them to come to an agreement with DC

There's an Atari Force review thread around here someplace that shaxper started some years back. I don't think it ever got finished though. Still working up the courage to go back for more. You can find the bulk of it reviewed here. I think I'm the only person I know who preferred the mini-comics to the ongoing series. They're very charming for what they are.

From the dollar bin at my LCS looking forward to finally reading this series. Love this series. I thought about picking it up and doing a bind.

Here are some recent purchases from various sources... There was a local shop that closed their retail location recently and have gone to strictly mail/online operation. Because of this, they didn't blow out everything, but I did get a couple of good deals before they shut their doors.
I picked up the Green Lantern #76 for a C-note, which is way, way below market value for its condition. Also got the John Carter #1 for 5 bucks.
I've been on a Charlton eBay tear recently... Most notably one of the first self-declared 100-pagers on the market--- Fightin' Air Force #12.
Charlton briefly experimented with this format back in 1958, well before DC made it successful in the '70s. Charlton only did it with a few titles across the line, and it didn't last long. However, their 100-pagers are by and large all new material, while DC usually only had one or two new stories, and the balance filled with reprints. The thing that caught my eye was the Nicholas/Alascia cover, which almost has an LB Cole "black light" feel to it.
More Charlton, this time various romance titles--
And last, one more Charlton title, plus the most recent issue of Back Issue! magazine, which has great interviews with Mark Schultz and William Stout. As most of you know, I'm a huge fan of Xenozoic Tales/Cadillacs & Dinosaurs.

Found these beauties for a dollar each last night. They were published in the U.K. and contain a lot of stories I've never seen in print in the U.S. No idea how they ended up in a discount bin in the U.S.! Winter is always the time of year that I start to crave Disney comics for some reason. I guess I find them as comforting as a warm blanket and mug of hot cocoa. So I couldn't have stumbled upon these at a better time!

Thanks! Full color, the standard ones are twenty pages and contain three stories. A few are specials that contain even more. Really, the only disappointment at all is that the lettering on stories translated from other languages is all typeset. Small price to pay in order to experience stories I'd otherwise never encounter in English!

Some new books that arrived, I think the Inferior Five and Legion of Subs team-up may be my favorite! The last picture shows some convention exclusives (the two on top being my favorites) I got this weekend that they gave us at admission. While I generally avoided books from this era, Teen Titans Lost Annual #1 was an absolute must-read, having been scripted by Bob Haney shortly before his death, and with Cardy and Saladino doing the cover. Wild story. I reviewed it here.

Kind of shocking , I didn’t know you still bought comics. Heh, I don't buy them often. Got too much good stuff to read already, but I do find a few keepers in discount bins now and then. I did actually work to assemble a complete Peter David Hulk run earlier this year so that Owen and I could read it together.

Wild story. I reviewed it here. It's a treat when we get the privilege of "one last" return of classic creators to the worlds they helped create and develop. It reminds me also of Gil Kane's work on Legends of the DC Universe #27 and #28 in 2000 which was a 2-parter classic Green Lantern and Atom team-up (Gil passed away a little over a month before the first part was printed). Thank you for the link to your review!

A couple of Ultimates....
My token CGC addition for the month....this is the rare Ultimate X-Men #1 DF Sketch cover, 2000 printed. Got this for considerably less that what a 'raw' copy sells for so it was a great deal to start off the month. I don't have to fret about this being in a slab, I have multiple reading copies in different formats.
And a winning wager on a world cup match netted me this, my first 'raw' copy of the 1:100 white cover variant of Ultimate Spidey #1 as the other 2 are slabbed. Another good deal and with prize money so win:win.
