I thought they were pretty good.... not the best sci-fi ever or anything, but fun reads. Alas, Cinebook, we miss you.

It has to be better than the godawful film. Way better than Lucy or any of the movies Luc Besson had directed immediately before that. |

It has to be better than the godawful film. Besson is a very visual oriented director, I thought Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets was a feast for the eyes, but certainly lacking in the story department
The Fifth Element and La Femme Nikita are kind of like that too

I absolutely loathed the main characters in the movie. Valerian and Laureline were both smug, irritating wankers. I was rooting for them to die for most of the movie. I have to assume they are more likeable in the comics. I mean, they would have to be.

Found some goodies today at one of the comic shops here. I'm trying not to buy stuff but these are nice upgrades and a new one for the collection - Showcase #97 and 99 - Batman #427-429 - Simpsons Comics #1    |

DubipR, I was actually kind of surprised that they quietly ended Bongo comics after almost 30 years. For some reason I think Stephen Hillenburg's (Spongebob Squarepants creator) death had something to do with it, because he was publishing comics through them

Simpsons sold incredibly well, maybe not stateside but internationally it was huge. I know at the time of closing in 2018, Futurama and Simpsons weren't huge numbers on TV, which helped the comics at the time but it was such a shock that out of nowhere of the announcement. Bongo was created to shepherd Greoning's projects, but it was quality product, every book. |
