Ordered the second Starman Compenendium from an online seller in the UK (World of Books) a few weeks ago and it just arrived today: Here's the kicker: it's a used/like new copy and I paid GBP 11.22 for it total, i.e., the price of the book itself and postage. So almost 1,500 pages of comics for a little less than 14 US dollars according to the current exchange rate. I'm still in a state of disbelief about this, as the book was only recently released (sometime late last year) with a cover price of $60, and the otherwise cheapest copies from sellers like Amazon are never less than about $45 - before shipping.
Super bargain on a fantastic read. Nice catch.

Nice catch. Reminds me that I found the first three Starman Omnibus for $15 each and I think they retail at $50? And they were about in the same condition you describe yours. I haven't even finished the series yet because I am stuck somewhere in between not wanting to pay the price for the rest of the series in the same format and not wanting to continue in another format. I guess I need to make a decision for as much as enjoyed the first three volumes.

It definitely was; I've generally had good luck with these Starman compendia - I snagged the first one for about $35 total, which at the time had me almost as excited as I am now with this one.

That "packaging" reminds me of the one used by Phoenix Books. I bought a TPB from them once, never again.

Got these for a dollar each in Main Street comics in NJ- some of them are in really rough shape but it works for a buck. The Neal Adams Strange Adventures has a detached cover

Some good books in there, Icctrombone. I think Yang is a bit underrated. And any day with Astro City is a good one.

Some fun and wacky books in there, @jaska .
That issue of Bomba is the only one I need to complete the run. Curses!
A few other things-- Captain Venture is one of the weirdest, wackiest Gold Key titles out there, and that says a lot.
It's also good to see the Charlton renditions of two pre-Golden Age characters (Jungle Jim and Flash Gordon).
And to this day, every time I see Cracky (I own a couple of issues myself), I can't help but envision Fresh-Up Freddie, the old 7-up cartoon mascot. Yeah, I know he's not a parrot (more like a Woody Woodpecker knock-off), but my 4-5 year-old mind didn't notice the difference. Freddie was used more in the 1950's before my time, but he did live on in commercials and ads well into the mid-60's, when 7-Up went in a different direction ad-wise.

Purchases in the last week, good weekend reading!
What material is reprinted in these HCs? I don't have any of them on my shelf yet.

I took a picture of the Don Rosa volume table of contents below so you can see the stories/issues included. The second volume is actually a modern original story that's an homage to the Carl Barks era (they had previously done a Mickey volume in this style as well). While you aren't really going to mistake this for an actual Carl Barks work, it's lovingly done and I like it very much for what it is.
