What material is reprinted in these HCs? I don't have any of them on my shelf yet.
I took a picture of the Don Rosa volume table of contents below so you can see the stories/issues included. The second volume is actually a modern original story that's an homage to the Carl Barks era (they had previously done a Mickey volume in this style as well). While you aren't really going to mistake this for an actual Carl Barks work, it's lovingly done and I like it very much for what it is. There's actually over 15 comics in that series (Donald and Mickey), and all the ones I've read so far have been great! They are done by French cartoonist so I'm not sure how many have been translated yet.

Almost 2 weeks ago I lost an auction which had a motherload of 200+ Silver Age Archies. Today I nabbed a consolation...
Another 30+ higher grade silver-age Archies, some VF-NM....not bad for books almost 55-60 years old. The Giant editions are 68 pages. Some of the better highlights...
This lot takes me past 1550+.....

Wow, those are some really clean and bright examples! Nice catch.

Just got a few things at Ithacon yesterday. I'll start with the stuff in my "gift bag": I got these for the grandkids at $1 or $3 each--they're the first generation who can own comics older than their grandfather: These were all either $1 or $3. I could've gone nuts on the $3 books, but held back: These were all a buck each. I picked up the coverless copies for a craft idea:

Lonestar had a surprise spring sale this week (higher % off than usual applying to most books, and an expanded $1 book sale). I had2 books sitting in my cart waiting for the right time to pull the trigger, so I ended up ordering them, and then browsed the dollar books to find some stuff to round out the order to make shipping more palatable. So the two books I had in my cart were a pair of George Perez Bronze Age rarities I discovered in an episode of Cartoonist Kayfabe-Oracle Presents #1 and Hot Shot Presents: She-Devils #1, both small press indy books from the mid-70s, very early in Perez's comic career. From the dollar book sale I got the following goodies... a pair of Weird Love issues... a bunch of Gemstone EC reprints, 3 issues of Panic (including a red dress cover) and 3 of Crime Suspenstories... and then a few misc. books, 2 Batman comics, an issue of Ptolus (a D&D inspired comic by one of the designers of 3E), and the last issue of Wild Blue Yonder, a mini I was enjoying about 10 years back but somehow never got the last issue of for some reason If you are curious about those Perez books, Cartoonist Kayfabe did a video paging through them you can check out a couple of weeks back. Addendum-both those Perez books are magazine sized comics. -M

You'll never guess what arrived in my mail today. it's been almost 4 years since I backed this on Kickstarter. I had given up on it, and it's been an eventful journey to get it here. The publisher, Drew Ford, basically went bankrupt, eventually paired with Dark Horse to get it made, then there were delays, backers got angry because it was going to stores before backers were fulfilled, etc. Then Drew Ford suddenly died unexpectedly and friends had to take over the fulfillment of all his outstanding Kickstarters, and raise more money to ship them out... But, it's here. It does look great. This not only collects all the issues form the original run, but the original writer returned to write an new ending to the saga since it was abruptly cancelled without a true conclusion. I'm really looking forward to FINALLY reading this one.

I hear some horror stories about kickstarters, some where the funds are stolen and the creators have to go out of pocket to get the books printed and mailed out. It makes me wonder how many books never get mailed to the funders.

I'd been pretty scathing in my reply to his last fund-raising letter. He also failed to fulfill a purchase of a piece of original art by Sam Glanzman. I've completely written that one off.

It makes me wonder how many books never get mailed to the funders. With the exception of Crimebuster I've pretty much determined that you have to at least double the amount of time that the creators estimate for fulfillment. And tripling it isn't a bad thought. And that includes some big name creators like John Ostrander and Tim Truman (still waiting for Scout).

Yeah, in this case in particular I'm glad I only pledged for the pdf version (which is what I normally do anyway); those were sent out almost 2 years ago if I'm remembering correctly. I ended up reading it and have, well, thoughts about the newly written conclusion, but I'll refrain from commenting until most people have received and had a chance to read their physical books.
Karl Kesel has also been pretty good in getting the Impossible Jones books printed and delivered more or less on schedule. However, his Section Zero: 1959 project is over three years late.

I have a friend that has backed alot of board games on kickstarter, and he generally expects a year later that they say to get the stuff. I think he's only got screwed on one or two (out of a dozen at least) but definitely some take forever.

I put in a low bid on Detective Comics 243, and I won!
I think it’s a pretty good price. I won’t know just how good until it comes in the mail.
This is the story titled The Giant Batman. It’s re-printed in one of those annuals from the 1960s, so I’ve read it before. It’s awesome!

Only $20?? That's a great deal! Most of those treasury size comics go for more than that, and in much worse condition.
