I have a friend that has backed alot of board games on kickstarter, and he generally expects a year later that they say to get the stuff. I think he's only got screwed on one or two (out of a dozen at least) but definitely some take forever. If you got an extra 50 lying around , you can back a project and forget about it.

A spare, never opened NM Superman and Spidey Treasury....probably sealed in plastic for decades. Didn't mind plonking a twenty on this
Nice pick up. Good price for a great book.

Whelp folks, it had to happen! Despite some setbacks, it arrived. I promised myself no other Omnibus' beyond my one outing with Howard The Duck, but hey, who's counting? {Spoiler: Click to show} And this thing is pretty drokkin' massive, making my HTD Omni look like an absolute pipsqueak I mostly caved in getting it because it was going out of print and because I got my tax return. So it was a match made in heaven

I've never read any of the Spider-Man vs Superman crossovers but whenever I see the that particular cover it always makes me wonder, why the Parasite? Because it seems funny to have such a well-known Marvel villain in Dr. Doom and not to have a DC villain of similar stature. But maybe my patchy knowledge of the DCU is letting me down and the Parasite is a bigger character than I think.

Only $20?? That's a great deal! Most of those treasury size comics go for more than that, and in much worse condition. Yeah, that's great condition. I am sick of Ebay treasury listings that look like it was rat nesting material for 40 years, but still getting $50+ bids.

A friend of mine once opened his Treasury package in front of me....I'll never forget the look on his face when he took it out the package and the cover fell off...

A couple of shipments showed up today, I'm so excited about these. I was in a very Golden Age mood when ordering. First up, Superman #252. What an amazing reprint issue, so many GA goodies. But I specifically wanted the Hawkgirl story reprinted from Flash Comics #24. Shiera officially becomes Hawkgirl in it (though she had technically worn a Hawk costume in All Star Comics #5). Interestingly I saw her call herself Hawkwoman in the story itself, but then she is called Hawkgirl at the end in the summary narrative. The splash page is just gorgeous per below, so happy to finally be able to read this. Also my favorite Lou Fine Ray story from Smash Comics! I first read that in an Adventure Comics digest, and later picked up a public domain scanned pages collection of the full Ray run in Smash, but nice to have it collected here. Second is World's Finest #207 which I bought for the GA Tarantula reprint, I liked the character from All-Star Squadron but had never seen his original look. Per below, he reminds me a bit of Sandman! The main story also has a snazzy brief flashback cameo with Zatanna. Next up a nice Flash 100 page issue which I bought for the old Johnny Quick reprint, but the other stories look cool as well. And what could be more Golden Age than the collected volume next to it Keeping the theme going, a couple of Brave and the Bold issues, with #167 actually being an Earth-2 Batman period piece teamed with Blackhawk, and Dave Cockrum art to boot! And then #182 set on Earth-2, but a different Batman visiting. Next up, a couple of DC Comics Presents issues with "Whatever Happened To" short features including my favorite JSA member the Man of the Hour, and the original Air Wave. Next a replica copy of an old issue of Moon Girl, I've always wanted to read this: And last but certainly not least, I was able to find a nice copy of another Russ Manning Tarzan collection I was looking for:

Congrats @jaska . Superman #252 is one of the greatest bronze age books of all time. I love the Shelly Moldoff art in that Hawkman story, and the Lou Fine splash page for the Ray story is about as good as it gets.
Superman #252 is one of the top 10 books that shaped me as a collector, as seen here around the 48:00 mark:

Got some stuff from the My Comic Shop sale... I've been making some progress on my to read bucket (old stuff from past quarter bins and such) and I had some stuff I wanted to get attached to that, and also a few other things. I got:
Madame Xanadu 2-5 (had #1 in my pile, seemed worth continuing) Air 1-5 (G Willow Wilson's (maybe) first book? was advertised in Madame Xanadu) Spirit by Darwyn Cooke #4 (random one to check it out.. seems like I will really like it) reign in Hell 1-8 (following through my reading Shadowpact recently) Brave and the Bold 128, 157 (both Kamandi issues, got a a couple more early issues recently) Sensei 1-2, 4 (First comics series from the 90s I had a random one of, decided I wanted the series)
All for 2 bucks each, except for the Brave and the Bold (which were 3 and 4)
I don't love they charge shipping, but still a decent deal.

Spirit by Darwyn Cooke #4 (random one to check it out.. seems like I will really like it) I highly recommend getting all of the Cooke Spirit issues, the Batman/Spirit One-Shot and 1-12. It's really good. Great storytelling and well, its Darwyn Cooke. The later issues of the run are good and solid but those magic 13 issues are a must have in a collection.

My son and I joke about the early war-time issues of All Star, where every story seems to be about rescuing war orphans or raising money for war bonds. The war bond sales propaganda was quite pervasive throughout.
Oh, and never mind if you happen to be a hero with some sort of super power-- forget using your powers-- just hit someone with your fist to get the point across! Nevertheless, original-story comic books were still fairly young and finding their way at the time.

Full set of Vicki 1-4. Anyone want to fathom a guess why these books never end up in quarter-bins with other books by Atlas? I also have multiples of a couple issues coming in (#2 seems to be the hardest to find even though they say #4 is the scarcest).

This was one of, if not the first big project where our own Cei-U! worked closely with Roy Thomas.
