I saw a group of Worlds Finest on eBay. #230 #232 #234 #235 #238 #260 #263 #235 is the cover where a giant hand is squeezing Superman and his head pops off! You know, I’ve always wondered about that cover! The low bid for the lot was $8, so I bid $8. And five days later I won! There’s a whole lot of other goofy crap going on in those covers. I can hardly wait! That was one of the first half dozen or so comics I ever bought.

I picked up this copy of Hansi, because I think some of the flaws can be cleaned and pressed out to nudge it into higher mid-grade territory. If I get it there, it's $43ish well-spent because a nice 6.0 copy can go for about $100+. Some of my 'tutors' have taken VGs (4.0-4.5) up to 6.0 to 7.0, which for books like Amazing Spidey 129 can increase its value by almost $1k. I've seen worse dings get pressed out and the one on top of this book above the 'S' isn't colour-breaking.
It's also become a fun exercise looking at flaws in certain books and determining whether they can be improved upon.

I find it interesting that pressing and cleaning a comic doesn’t classify it as being “restored “. Shouldn’t that effect the grade ?

So different from the days I saw the owner of an LCS sitting at the counter reinforcing the spine of a Golden Age issue of Detective with cigarette papers.

I picked up some great stuff at Ollie's this past weekend...
Batman Black and White HC, vol. 1 and 4 - vol. 1 came with the blue ray and DVD of the Gotham Knight anthology movie... all for 3.99!
The DC Art of Darwyn Cooke... a fantastic collection of all of his "loose" stuff he did at DC, including (I think) his entire issue of SOLO, and an excerpt from New Frontier, and lots of his Catwoman and Jonah Hex stuff... well worth the cheap price!
Batman Elseworlds, Vol. 1 - which features some of the better early Elseworlds stuff... including Dark Allegiances, which is beautifully drawn by Chaykin, but looks like it was colored by a chimpanzee with Ebola - and a computer.
Superman vol. 5, Doomsday - the volume of Superman issues where he loses the mullet.
Flashpoint Unwrapped HC - a pretty good story, in Andy Kubert's very pleasing pencils.
There was also a stack of treasury sized Wonder Woman hardcovers, by Alex Ross and Paul Dini... which I passed on.. .but they were only 3.99 Also, a nice collection of the Return of Superman, which I already have in two versions... but it was pretty cheap, too.

That's a beautiful book and that issue of Solo is one of my favorite single issues of all time.

This had several things going for it...I needed a Jughead's Soul Food (one of the tougher Spire/Barbour books to find)...the other Spire Archies had some useful price variants and they were all VF or better. At only $2.60 per book! My Spire Archie run is almost complete.....
