(...) Saw this on ebay and put in my $1 bid, not realizing at the time it was a digest or that it was coming from Algeria, but it was $1 starting bid and free shipping so I took a chance, and ended up winning. Just toon 6 weeks to actually get the book, though the seller shipped it in a reasonable amount of time. Wow, I can't believe an eBay seller offered free delivery for a non-domestic address - unless it was one of those online book dealers who seem to have deals global shippers. The 6-week delivery sounds about right, though - any overseas non-airmail option always takes pretty long. I used to order books from a US online store called Better World that offers free global shipping, and 6 weeks was about the average time it took for any package to arrive. A few times it took almost 2 months, and I remember being happy any time something arrived in less than a month.
I'm not sure of the details, I've only seen people on the Mego boards and the rpg sales FB groups talking about it in passing, but it seems ebay has some sort of new shipping program sellers can enroll in that reduces certain types of shipping costs, including international shipping, but I am not sure if that is in play with this seller or not. -M

I think Confessor posted this in the last Classic Christmas thread, remembered it earlier this week and got the full set for $8.

Just got the IDW Star Wars Newspaper collection volume 2 I ordered off of eBay, looks gorgeous in person, a very gently used copy. As mentioned in another thread I've been enjoying the Russ Manning material in my first volume, but really looking forward to seeing the Al Williamson material. It's kind of full circle for me, his work on the Empire Strikes Back adaptation in the Marvel series was my introduction to him as a kid, and now I get to revisit him with Star Wars again!

First 4 (of 5) issues of Marvel's 'Spoof' which was like MAD in full-colour, all in the vicinity of VF-VF+. Also including a couple scans of the Mod Squad parody.

Plop brought me into comics, so to be a completist I had to have Spoof and Arrgh! too.
Oddly, for both those Marvel series, I quickly found four of the five issues, but it took me years to find issue #2 of each.
That makes me remember that I had the same quirk in acquiring that sci-fi/fantasy line that DC introduced around 1975. Beowulf and Starfire and stuff like that iirc. For several of those short runs, for years I had issues 1-3 and 5+, always missing issue #4 of each.

I think Peggy Lipton on the Mod Squad was my first screen crush around age 6 or 7.
Also, interesting that you don't have #5 with the Night Gallery parody. That's the one I'm missing to complete my personal run.

I remember having most of them as a kid. I imagine the rock stars cover must have been a pretty penny.

Actually, no, I got a good deal on these 4 compared to what I see full sets go for....and one of the bummers about most of those full sets are the 1 or 2 lower grade copies that are usually mixed in. I'll add the #5 Night Gallery (or 'Nut Gallery' lol) in the coming weeks.

I am currently placing comic lots of SA books for sale and I am starting them dirt cheap. So it's totally possible to get a steal in a set. Not every seller starts their auctions with sky high prices.

In 2019, Marvel celebrated its 80th anniversary with a series of one-shot Marvel Tales anthologies.
This Jen Bartel 1 in 50 virgin variant of Black Widow had an interesting compilation. Featuring the debut of the Golden Age Black Widow from MYSTIC COMICS (1940) #4, the first appearance of Natasha Romanoff as a femme fatale targeting Iron Man in TALES OF SUSPENSE (1959) #52 and the introduction of Natasha’s iconic modern look in AMAZING SPIDER-MAN (1963) #86! Plus: Criminals everywhere will feel the Widow’s bite when she goes solo in AMAZING ADVENTURES (1970) #1, and Natasha undertakes a superspy mission in MARVEL FANFARE (1982) #10. And meet an all-new undercover agent in RED WIDOW: FIRST STRIKE #1!
Usually retails anywhere up to $50....I had some Sunday luck and got a copy for closer to $8.50. I used these pics below as they're clearer but mine is an exact copy in NM.

I normally buy mostly collected editions online these days, but made an unexpected stop at a local comic book shop today and did a little bargain bin hunting. Small stack, but all of these were just a dollar each, not bad for $7 total! And yes, Wizard is a guilty pleasure, what can I say.

The corner box for Spoof #2 is wild. It appears to be a homage to Fritz the Cat.

Yeah, that's the wild part! It's pretty... bold... for Marvel to put Nancy and Charlie Brown in a Fritz the Cat parody!
