Attachment DeletedAttachment DeletedForgive me, it has been a while since I shared! Here is a myriad of stuff...the Werewolfs and Rocketeer ish are thanks to Antoine, as we recently worked our a trade. Very happy! Got a nice little run of Nightwing from #53-60 (some shown) and Legends of Dark Knight as seen. Very happy with those. The Infinity Gauntlet and ASM #238 were keys for me, especially the ASM. And yes, I have the tattooz!! It is in real nice shape. The Infinity Gauntlets were also a good deal from a local guy. I also could have walked away with a New Mutants #98 for a few bucks. He is sitting on a large collection and I mentioned that being a hot book and he had it just sitting in the boxes. He is a good guy and we have bought and traded often (he is older and not up on whats most valuable) so he appreciated that I let him know and gave me a solid deal on the Infinity stuff.

Good for you for not taking advantage of him on the New Mutants comic.

I like a deal as much as the next guy. But he is a friend and the only guy in my city (that I have found anyways) that shares a love for the classic stuff. I told him I try and help him go through because while I don't collect primarily for value, I keep up on what is valuable simply because knowledge like that can turn a dollar bin find into some extra change towards more comics!!
So far I am liking Infinity Gauntlet....I have a few from Infinity War and Crusade that I have never read...are they as good or worth reading because he had sets of those as well.

The Infinity stuff goes downhill pretty fast. IG was quite good, but IW, outside of the Kang/Doom interaction and some of the tie-ins, is pretty weak, and IC really isn't good at all. I guess if you like Starlin's Thanos/Warlock stuff, they're worth reading, but I'd stick to the core minis and the Infinity Watch/Warlock Chronicle tie-ins.

The owner of my lcs told me about an estate sale he had been contracted to price the books for last weekend, and I got a pretty good haul. If I'd have gotten there earlier, I really could have scored, but I went to another one in error first. Still, I found these goodies; Amazing Spider-Man- 54 FN 56 VF/NM 63 VF Annual 3 FN Batman- 164 VG+ 166 VG/FN Captain America- 108 VF+ 110 VF Daredevil- 20 VG/FN Journey Into Mystery (Thor)- 106 VF Strange Tales- 168 FN Superman Vol.1- 155 FN 164 FN 187 FN+ 188 FN 189 VF Uncanny X-Men- 114 FN 124 FN+ 124 FN 132 VG/FN 137 VF Action Comics- 290 FN 315 VG/FN 316 FN 333 VG+ 338 FN- 339 VF 341 VF They weren't dirt cheap, but they were well under what they could have sold for. I also managed to get a bunch of Silver Age books in lesser condition for $2/ea.- Adventure Comics 327, 331, 333- Batman 134, 176- Justice League Of America 30, 33, 38 & 182-202 - Superman 136, 167, 178, 197 - Action Comics 259, 280, 277, 291, 335 & Uncanny X-Men 213-221 in VF/NM. I've already put them all up and didn't take pictures, though. I'll remember to next time.

Finally got in the second half of my calendar extravaganza. Behold! Unlike 1976, where each month was a pinup by the team of Neal Adams and Dick Giordano, the 1977 calendar features battle scenes of the major DC characters fighting their archenemies, as drawn by the respective creative teams from those titles. So it's a pretty cool slice of life from 1977 DC. Here are a couple examples. Hawkman and Hawkgirl vs. Gentleman Ghost by Joe Kubert! The JSA vs. Solomon Grundy by Wally Wood! And in the middle of the calendar is a double sized LSH poster by Mike Grell!

I was at my LCS today when I was suddenly seized by a bizarre urge to check their X-Men boxes to see if they happened to have any of the rare Pressman variants. I don't know why this idea popped into my head, as I don't collect either X-Men or variants, but I decided to check it out. Sure enough: This gold edition came inside some copies of the X-Men board game Pressman made in 1992. I think it's worth a fair chunk of change. Weird, right?

Well, you just taught me something. I wonder if I've passed on that book without knowing. I'll be looking from now on. Great find. It looks VF at least.

I checked it on e-bay.. there's a couple up for sale in the $250 range, but actual sales are more like $20, though one was a best offer that might have been big money.
I remember that board game... I played the heck out of it with my little brothers!
On the topic of the thread... I snagged a nice lot of early 2000 ADs (in the low 100s) on e-bay.. looking forward to checking them out!

Yeah, it's in quite nice shape. There are several Pressman variants. This is both the hardest one to find and to identify, though it's not that hard to pick out if you know it exists. The normal version of #297 has a red logo and the background foliage is colored in gradients of red. Also, the words are in red on the variant, rather than in yellow: This was included in the first batch of X-Men board games, but Pressman apparently switched to a newer issue pretty quickly. The remaining copies were offered up as a mail in offer to people who bought the game, so there are very few around, as you had to both buy the board game and then mail away for it in order to get a copy. The other, more common Pressman variants are of X-Men #11, Uncanny X-Men #303 and Uncanny X-Men #307. The X-Men #11 has a metallic silver background, and both #303 and #307 have metallic gold backgrounds, making them nearly impossible to miss. Like so: There's also a very, very rare variant of Uncanny X-Men #302, but as far as I know nobody seems to know where it came from. The #302 variant has no price in the price box, and the UPC box is completely blank as well.

I know of multiple confirmed sales in the $800-2000 range, but those were for CGC 9.8. I think my copy is in the 8.5/9.0 range, so I am hoping to get $200-400 for it, but we'll see. Whoever sold it for $20 made a boo boo. It looks just from the asking prices and availability on ebay that #303 is much more common than the others, with #11 and #307 being in the middle and #297 the rarest.
