I think this might be the best Christmas song.

I remember when "The Little Drummer Boy" was considered a new Christmas song, back in the early 60s. I'm guessing the Bowie-Crosby duet that incorporates "Drummer Boy" is no longer exactly a new song, either. But here's the world's most beautiful new Christmas song by far... Insulin hits and barf bags available as you leave. Also a chiropractor if you need to be remanipulated. A colleague showed this to me last year and was in tears as we watched it together. I tried my best not to laugh. I far prefer this SNL parody of it:

In terms of modern classics, here's one that should be. Always has me tear up by the close:

The Wedding Present's brilliant cover of Elton John's Step into Christmas.

We have satellite feed, in the store, with Christmas stuff mixed in with the regular material, which covers a couple of generations; but, most of the Christmas stuff is later (few real classics in there, though) We have someone more recent butchering Slade's "Merry Christmas Everybody," while we get the Waitresses "Christmas Wrapping," not only by them, but one of the covers of it. I was never a fan of the original; but, it beats the cover. of course, we don't get my favorites, like "Father Christmas, " from the Kinks, "Merry Christmas, I don't want to Fight, from The Ramones, , The Damned's "There Ain't No Sanity Clause," or El Vez's version of "Feliz Navidad." we do get Elton John and The Pretenders; so, there is that.
My annual tradition is to play my Punk Rock Christmas CD, by Dec 24. I bought it very early in my retail career and it is the perfect antidote, along with watching How The Grinch Stole Christmas and cheering him on.

I like their Thanksgiving song better, but Lou & Peter Berryman do have a Christmas song:
Here's the Thanksgiving song:
