I know the Classics board is probably the best place to look to identify a comic you read years ago and kind of halfway remember. Well I have one for you! I believe it was a translated Euro comic, it's in full color, spectacular color if I remember correctly. It's at least 30 years old I believe, and pretty sure it was heavily advertised either in Heavy Metal or one of the color indy comics I was reading from the era. It's about a group of people, one of whom is a pilot, searching for something or other. I think they had a blimp. It was a long serialized story but I think I only got to read the first 20 pages or so. There was at least one elf, they may have all been elves. There may have been a troll, or just a short bearded man or elf. It was a little steampunk in nature, and that's all I've got on it.
I do not remember if it was magazine sized, regular comic sized, or in a squarebound album. I do not remember if it was in a Heavy Metal type anthology or a stand alone title when I read it, but I have little doubt there's a trade out there collecting it.

I've been trying to locate 2 Charlton comics for years, since I read them when I was a kid in the hospital (compound fracture right arm). I liked the horror comics but avoided the War & Western titles like the plague.
One had a story called Murder By Proxy. It was about a board game that was being played by several participants who had no idea when their pieces died in the game, people would die in similar fashion. It's always been on my mind, especially because I forgot how the story ended.
The other one...I forgot the name of the story but it was based during WWII. An American and a Japanese fighter-pilot exchange gunfire, shoot each other down. They both manage to crash-land on a deserted but hospitable island. Assessing his situation, the Japanese soldier tries to become friends instead of remaining enemies. The American quietly hates him all along and eventually murders him. The American is eventually rescued, taken back home....only to find himself being haunted by the guy he killed.
These memories are vague, but they were enjoyable reads some 20+ years ago.
As for my arm, it healed nicely and is stronger than my left arm, and I'm a leftie.

I'm getting old, but nothing comes to mind really. Keepers of the Maser and Lanfeust of Troy were both in Heavy Metal iirc., but that's about 20 years old. I'll dive a little further to see what I can find.

I came across it in an old issue, didn't actually read it thirty years ago. Read it about five years ago in a random comic purchase, but it was definitely old when I read it. I'm going to look into it, thanks!

I'm looking for an EC Comics book either Tales from the Crypt or The Vault of Horror. One of the stores is about a man who kills his wife or friend and goes to escape in a cabin. That night there's a knock at the door which is strange because no one knew he was there. He opens the door to find that someone left a box there with a severed hand inside. The hand comes to life and proceeds to chase him around the cabin. In the morning when police find him he has been straggled to death by his own hand. Anyone have any idea what issue that is?

A reader of one of my blogs sent this in, and I have no idea which comic it is they are looking for so thought I'd try here.
Here's the info they sent me about it:
Sounds like something from Heavy Metal or Euro sci-fi. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

Well, there was a comic book series called Tohubohu, so that would be my first guess. No idea what it's about though. From 1999:

Found it. It's called the "The Maestro's Hand" originally published in The Crypt of Terror #18.

I don't know anything about Charltons, so I'm afraid I'm right out on that one.

Not a comic, but a person: an unknown actress from 1962 (FF 9, page 10). It looks like Kirby drew her from a photo, but who might she be? Any ideas? I've included a modern reprint in the hope of clarity, but now that I look at the side by side, the "cleaned up" one ruins the art. Several lines on her hair have been Colletta-d, and her eyes have a completely different look. (I am not a fan of cleaning up old art unless we are VERY careful, but that's another topic) Any guesses? Any 1962 film buffs here?
