Action Comics #1056. The main Superman story concluded with a satisfying finish. Loved the writing and art. The Jon (preteen) story may be my favorite. I wish we had gotten more Jon stories before he was aged by Bendis. Jurgens & Weeks do an awesome job. The Steel story was ok. It sets up his new series Steelworks.

Detective Comics #1073 Harley Quinn #31
She-Hulk #14
I didn’t get to the shop until Thursday last week and Wonder Woman #800 was sold out, but they said they were getting more this week. And I forgot about Scarlet Witch Annual #1, so I’m hoping that’s still available.

Green Arrow #3. Yes! We finally get some answers on why Ollie is separated from his family. Plus we get Connor Hawke as a member of the Legion in the 31st century. And we also get an awesome Roy/Dinah team up. And that last page! Really enjoying this GA series.

Hellboy and the BPRD: 1957 "Fearful Symmetry"Written by Chris Roberson Art by Alison Sampson Summary:When called to India to investigate a rash of mysterious animal attacks, Hellboy is reunited with a familiar face and an odd case. Plot:Story wise this was pretty decent, if not very exciting. All and all it was your typical Hellboy smash em'up where Hellboy gets called in for something simple and sees it's something weirder and then he punches it into submission. I liked the callback to Roberson's earlier prose story, "The Other Side of Summer” which was originally collected way back in 29017's Hellboy: An Assortment of Horrors as I rally loved the Ginny character he introduced there and I hope we see more of her in future stories. Art: What really brings this book down in my eyes was the art. I've read that Sampson had cancer, hence the year long delay, so I don't want to be too critical... but Hellboy just looked really doughy and misshapen. The human characters were all beautifully done and the Were-Tiger was decent but Hellboy's face lacked any sense of depth or texture and his facial hair looked like when you would scribble mustaches on pictures of people in the newspaper with a pen when you were a kid. And the dichotomy between just how well the other characters were and how amateurish Hellboy looked made it all the worse. It almost looks like it was done by two different people. It's like that story about the little girl with the curl, "when she was good she was very, very good but when she was bad she was rotten." Grade:6/10

Yeah, I loved the wrap up to the Metallo/Cyborg-Superman story. While it's true not every villain needs a turn, I really loved this more sympathetic take on Metallo. And yeah, if it wasn't clear enough already, the back up really shows why aging Jon was a bad idea. Super Son just has way more potential as a younger hero than a teen hero and its a heck of a lot more fun!

I wish I could say that Detective comics was doing as well as Action...but it's not.
This story by Ram V just continues to frustrate.
As an individual issue it's decent enough, the characterization is good, the action is well done, the mood is captivating...but the overall plot continues to go nowhere. There have been eleven issues and an extended annual and the story has still yet to reach its conclusion.
Why?
What is the benefit of going on this long?
Have we learned anything here that we couldn't if the story was done in four issues?
I should drop this because I can't answer any of those questions, but despite it all I continue to pick this up because plot progression aside Ram V is a decent writer and he's capable of good storytelling but this just isn't it. I've dropped Batman and Detective in the past when I didn't care for the story being told...why can't I do it again? Maybe I've become a Batmanaholic.

I thought it was a bit anti-climatic overall. I mean, if they are going with this how 'Super Family' thing.. how do they find bad guys that are a threat? There just aren't any unless they go cosmic level. I agree the Jon story is great.. definitely the best part. The Steel story was a bit odd... I don't think he's ever been on panel with Mr. Terrific before, and they're acting like they're buddies.. just because they're both smart black dudes? felt weird. Also, the timing was clearly off.

Yeah, but I mostly chalk that up to how good the writing is in Nightwing. He could probably make just about any plot good.

Taylor did write Jon's series and it started off strong but it sort of ran out of steam around issue 12.
