Perhaps if I knew what stories to check out! ; ) Read anything about Polaris that doesn't involve Havok interacting with her. That's why I love d All-New X-Factor! Fixed that for you, you know, since Marvel has taken away the last of our nice things.

Wasn't there a mutant named Rip Van X, that debuted in the early 90's, who's power was super-sleeping?

Just to add a thought about the New Gods, I read or heard somewhere that Neal Adams was going to do a project with those characters. Now there's a combination that would have me running for the hills - if it's anywhere near the quality of his recent-ish pre-X-Men series for Marvel (aka Vampire Retcon Chimps) then it will be very, very poor indeed.

I was disturbed enough by "Vampire Retcon Chimps" that I checked GCD & Google and found no trace of that being an actual thing. Which is good, because I'm not sure I could've gotten over that.

So long as Adams doesn't try to write it. The man is still an extraordinary artist, but Batman: Odyssey has convinced he should never attempt to write a comic.
(Not that Odyssey was boring. Just flat-out insane.)

I remember reading an isolated X-MEN in which Polaris somehow got big muscles. Sort of a "Hernandez Bro" transformation, which is an inside joke for those who know their works. I only read X-MEN spottily through the 90s and thereafter, but I have the impression that this period was the first time Polaris was an ongoing member of a group, rather than being a hanger-on type. I could be easily be wrong on that though.

Ugh the whole changing Polaris' powers is something that really makes me dislike Claremont like oh right great idea to get rid of Magnetism which is a power used by all of four characters between Marvel and DC to make her She-Hulk 2.0 because Super strength is soooo original. I think you're right about that period being the first time Lorna was actually a member of the main X-men group before that she was just an extra who only existed to be tortured and Alex's girlfriend both of which are essentially the same thing. An unpopular opinion of mine is that I think Chuck Austen did a good job with Polaris he got rid of the boring Havok in an entertaining way, reestablished Magneto being her father and had her be the successor to Magneto and he's also the only writer who focused on both of my favorites (Nightcrawler and Polaris) at the same time! And I like Azazel. I won't pretend his run is amazing because itREALLY isn't but I just think he put in a lot of things I liked and I'm glad they kept in continuity.

Fuzzy- ALLLLLL Polaris fans think Chuck Austen did great with Polaris because he used her a TON.
All of the rest of us know that Chuck Austen's X-Men were an abomination. ESPECIALLY that god awful Draco Arc. I believe Garney did the art on that, and it's the worst art in almost all of ever (minus what's-his-face who did the art for a good chunk of Morrison's run).

My main problem with the Draco arc is it's really boring and (Jillian or whatever her name is weird) I don't mind Azazel himself though he was overpowered. The art basically sucked throughout Austen's run. In fact the art sucked during that era of X-men wasn't that time when Morrison was on X-men the art on his book was awful too.

Jillian was another way for Marvel to take a jab at the incestuous BS Claremont had written into Nightcrawler's history.
It's one thing I REALLY dislike about Claremont. For as well as he wrote the X-Men, I honestly HATE that he wrote Amanda and Jimaine as the same person.

As the self proclaimed biggest Havok fan in the world, I am angered by the lack of love for him in this thread.
