Jeff needs to read Alan Brennert's oeuvre. It's not a lot so it won't take long. Thoroughly agreed. Where should I start? There's a book that collects all of his DC stuff (all of his Batman anyway, which may be it).
I think it's available on Hoopla.

Yes, it collects his entire DC oeuvre, which - despite the book's title - is not limited to Batman, as it includes the much-loved Deadman meets Kara story from Christmas with the Super-Heroes #2 and the Black Canary segment from Secret Origins #50. It's definitely a book worth having.

Just wanted to tell you, Icctrombone and shaxper , how much fun it was listening to you two doing your comedy shtik on the Christmas episode. The recaps were a good combination of affectionate retelling and healthy skepticism. George, your recap of the Deadman-Kara story was quite affecting. Didn't know you were such a softie. I didn't know most of your choices, which was a good thing, though I kept thinking/hoping one of you would list something form the Golden Age, like "The Loneliest Men in the World" (Batman 15, and reprinted in that Batman 239 you also told us about, George), or "A Christmas Peril" from Batman 27, reprinted in Batman 261 (a 100-pager). I recommend them both to you. Oh, and Shax, I do remember one Hanukkah story, from #188 in the original JLA run. Thanks for your sharing your enthusiasm and knowledge, guys!

Might be fun to have you on sometime to discuss "Top 10 Atom Age Books every comics fan should read," or something to that effect. I'll happily check out those recommendations, too!

A million years ago I had Batman 239 and I'm sure I read the other stories. Alas, this time I read it in digital and in the rush to consume the material for the podcast deadline, I skipped the other stories.

That cover wouldn't have been out of place at the 50s Senate hearings. "Sir, do you believe this image is in good taste?"...Damn
Another fun show guys!

Well, with apologies to Bill Gaines, "A cover in bad taste might be defined as showing the gun plunged further into Santa's mouth so that saliva could be seen dripping from it..."

Well, the decorations are up, and the first thing that came out was my collection of Disney Christmas comics! Now, I do own a few of the Dell (1947) originals, but I don't leave them out like this because they're a lot more collectible. These can get thrown around, read a bizillion times, and treated the way comics were originally intended to be treated. Already read Walt Disney's Christmas Parade (2003) #1 tonight (first image, all the way on the left). It's never truly the holiday season for me until I re-read this cherished issue to kick off the festivities! When I inevitably re-read all of these, I'll try to hunt down some more on ebay and then delve into some of the 400+ non-Christmas Disney books I own. It's an annual tradition!
