Buying Goals- Never anything specific these days. My only goal is to buy less than I read and to find a place for it all. Selling Goals- None. I'll do it if I do it. Reading Goals- Read at least one classic novel from beginning to end. - Re-read at least one classic run in my collection. What's the point of saving back issues if you only read them once? There is so much good stuff that I want to savor again. - Take on at least two massive unread runs remaining in my collection, possibly including: - Byrne's Fantastic Four - Bone - Sandman Mystery Theatre - Immortal Hulk - Defenders #1-60 - Ditko's Spider-Man - Grimjack - Astro City - Dreadstar - New Mutants all the way up to #100 (I think I got thru the first 25 issues on a previous reading attempt over two decades ago) - Alpha Flight (I have an incomplete run up to around #50, but I suspect I won't want to read that far) - Keep making my way through the long boxes of books I've been hauling back from LCS sales. Essential Reviewing GoalsFind a balance between editing podcast episodes and getting some reviews done. In previous years, I could churn out 5 reviews a month, but I've done almost no reviewing at all since starting the CCF In-depth podcast, so I'm setting my reviewing goals much lower this year: - Get in at least one review for Justice League in the Post-Crisis Era. - Get in at least one review for New Teen Titans and Beyond. - Do at least two reviews for The Complete Batman: 1955-1979. I really miss this thread, and Hoosier X has been getting a lot done without me! - Do at least one review for The Complete Batman: 1979-2011. - Yeah, even do at least one review for Atari Force. I'd like to make at least some progress in each of my review threads this year. - Get in at least three reviews for Writer's Spotlight: Doug Moench. I really miss this one. - Write at least eight reviews for Superman in the Post-Crisis Era reviews, my absolute favorite review thread. I'll probably do this during the summer. Podcast goals:- Icctrombone says at least eight episodes in 2024. Up until now, we've been aiming for one a month. Maybe eight is more sensible? I guess we'll see. Happy New Year, everyone!!

Buying Goals I would like to buy as few new classic comic floppies as possible this year. There are a handful of issues of Captain Marvel I might pick up, and as with the past few years, I will grab cheap Batman/Detective issues, but I made it through 2023 only buying 31 classic comics and I would like to try to lower that number in 2024.
That said, I am not against buying TPBs on the cheap. Still looking for a handful of Hellblazer collections to round out the run.
Reading Goals Would like to average 50-60 never-before-read issues per month this year, which will help make a little dent in the backlog, while avoiding the pitfall of going to the "comfort" books that I reread all the time.
Collection Goals Want to move at least 500 books out of my collection and into new homes. Lot of stuff that I'm never going to read again and that is just taking up space, but I always chicken out, thinking that since I paid money for it at some point, I need to hold onto it until I can get a comparable amount in return, instead of just getting it out of my house.
Other Goals Wouldn't mind trying to restart my Captain America review thread if I can get myself motivated to sit down and read the next handful of issues and take notes. Might have some time later this year after my older daughter goes to college and my younger one gets her driver's license, so we shall see.

I’ll probably read some funnybooks. I might review a few. You're well on your way...

Continue my project to read every issue of Detective Comics from #244 to the present. (The latest issue was #1080.) I got up to #326 a few days ago and I’m taking a break before I tackle the New Look. I’m hoping to read 400 or 500 issues of Detective Comics this year.
Finish my collection of Batman from #251 to #400. #256, #321, #330 and #331 are in the mail. After those arrive, I’m only missing #308, #318 and #324.
I’d like to get a few more issues of 1950s Detective Comics. I’d like to at least get the issues I’m missing between #233 (first Batwoman; very expensive! It will be a while before I have one of those) and #242 (from which point I have every issue). I’m missing #237, #240 and #241.
Read Thor from Journey into Mystery #83 to the end of the Kirby run, and maybe a little bit further. I’ve read them all before but never in order. I kind of lost track of which stories I have in reprints and which stories I read in books I got from the library. I’ll probably read Thor up to the point where I run out of reprints that I own. (icctrombone and I are planning a joint Thor thread.)
I’ve also started thinking about some shorter runs to read whenever I take a break. So far, I’ve decided on Alan Moore’s The Tempest (six issues) and Panther’s Rage (Jungle Action #7 to #18).
And maybe Devil Dinosaur or OMAC.

Avoid Omnibus....they look like bling but are awkward and too heavy to handle.
A large discount might void this, like it did today *groan*

Yeah, 'Jones Sienkiewicz' does have a certain ring to it.
Maybe the other way around? 'Sienkiewicz Jones' has nearly the same rhythmn as Cleopatra Jones, depending on how you pronounce Sienkiewicz.

My only comic book resolutions are as follows: 1.) Read comics only while drinking grape juice and eating jelly donuts. 2.) Always carry my comics rolled up, in my back pocket. 3.) Always refer to comic books as "funny books." 4.) Lobby for the exchange rate of 3 Richie Rich to the Archie, or 17 Casper to the Batman. 5.) Demand that Bill Sienkiewicz change his name to Jones. 6.) Color in all illustrations of Moon Knight 7.) Tug on Superman's cape. Either you're mocking this thread or you finally have that Dr. Doom Time Machine. Just reasonable, achievable goals. As for the latter, well, my cat did get a little rambunctious and the next thing I know is that she brought home a little sabre-toothed friend.

I've read through #60 and have to read the rest. Have you read the stories before Defenders #1 (a three issue run in Marvel Feature, plus some team-ups between the members in their solo titles)? Those stories are included in both the first Epic Collection and the first Essential. I did my New Mutants binge read in 2023 and the last few days of 2022.

I was curious about how far I can go through all the Thor Marvel Masterworks I own and the one Thor Essential volume I have, and all the Thor digital reprints I got through Comixology. So I checked my home comic-book library and looked on my phone at the digital material. I can go all the way up to Thor #253!

Mine are pretty general: - Continue picking up "first generation" ('67-'74 or so) undergrounds when I can find them at a good price
- Go to a local LCS a couple times a month (and buy something)
- Buy more from local/indie creators when I see them
- Read Simonson's Thor (via Hoopla)
- Maybe look into getting some SA DCs cleaned/pressed/slabbed to sell
Non-collecting goals: - Help the local library with FCBD week events
- Dedicate time to my own art projects (some of which may be comic related)

We're counterparts on Defenders reading. Careful. You're going to make me want to start another review thread! I've read through #60 and have to read the rest. Yes, I started reading it all probably fifteen years ago and then got sidetracked after the first maybe half-dozen issues. I'm really looking forward to returning to it and getting to the Steve Gerber era.

I had sort of resolved to start reading Rip Kirby, but the reprint books are outrageously expensive. Looks like I'll re-read Flash Gordon, Terry and the Pirates and Prince Valiant instead!

If you find a reasonably-priced or online source for Rip Kirby, please share. I have this one that I picked up 50 or so years ago, but it's slim and the reproduction is horrible.
