I’ll probably read some funnybooks. I might review a few. I read some funnybooks. I haven’t reviewed any. I’m a slacker.

A little late for my check-in! Buying Goals- Never anything specific these days. My only goal is to buy less than I read and to find a place for it all. Not met. This is the first time in years that I am failing at this goal, having raided far too many dollar bin deals this summer. I've probably picked up 300-400 books while my reading has slowed down tremendously. Met. This has not been the right environment for selling, but maybe I'll finally unload my CGCed New Mutants #98 and my Hulk #180 once the Deadpool/Wolverine movie drops. Partially met. I'm partway into Don Quixote, but I'm not reading as frequently as I like. Hoping I'll actually finish it before summer ends and I run out of time. Not met. Met. Read Bone and Immortal Hulk and enjoyed both immensely. Currently working through Byrne's Fantastic Four, which has not been all that fun and is really what's slowing down my reading this summer. Partially met. I'm doing this a little (and really enjoying it) but I am absolutely not keeping pace with my buying. Partially met. I think I'm doing this, and I somehow added a Youtube channel to the mix, as well. Of course, we'll see if I can keep it going. Partially met. 14 reviews, all Superman. Somehow, I got it in my mind to get to the Death of Superman this year, which is still about a dozen reviews away. I'd like to get to the other stuff too, but we'll see. Partially met. 4 done, 1 currently being edited for release next week.

Since its tradition, let's keep it going. What is on your '24 Classic Comic Resolutions? 1. Key Issue Pick-ups- Honestly, I'm not looking to buy a ton next year. I want about 4 or 5 key issues/personal grail books and that's it; meaning if I can afford them at a reasonable price. I think I'm dwindling down with collecting back issues. I'll read what I have but the stuff I want, there's not a whole lot of books I'm searching for out there. If there's something that catches my eye, I'll pick it up but there's just that handful of books. 2. Wrap Up Binding Project- I'm almost done, as I've mentioned. I have everything wrapped up and set to go. Honestly its up to bindery to take care of it. Three volumes of Ostrander's Spectre run. Waid's Impulse run, and possibly a couple other fun book ideas. 3. Self-Preservation- Still getting some of the Silver Age and some Golden Age items CGC'd . Its more than half of the year gone. Let's see how we stand 1. Key Issue Pick-ups: February was a great month as I hit all my personal grails. Right now its small books (about 6) I'm looking to get. But the big books are in my collection 2. Wrap Up Binding Project: The last 4 books are at the bindery right now. The Covid project is done. 51 volumes taken care of. An amazing project. I might continue and get a couple more things done but the open long boxes of comics I wanted bound are done. 3. Self-Preservation: On hold right now. I have items ready to be mailed to CGC but on hold for the time being until some outside factors are taken care of before I submit. -R

With a month and a half to go, I figure one last check-in couldn't hurt. With the amount of time I ended up devoting to launching our little Youtube empire over the past four months, I'm definitely behind on my goals and figured I should take inventory and figure out what I can still accomplish with the time remaining. Buying Goals- Never anything specific these days. My only goal is to buy less than I read and to find a place for it all. Met. I bought A LOT this year, but I've still read a little more than I've purchased. Met. Didn't happen. At the risk of getting political, one of the few positives I have hopes for with another Trump presidency is more checks going out to offset inflation, just like during Covid. It would probably do more damage than good to the economy, but it would jumpstart the collectibles market again, so I'm holding off on selling anything more with the hopes that things might go that way. Partially met. I have three books I really want to finish before the year ends, but I probably won't finish any of them at this point. Partially met. I've started re-reading the only stretch of Groo The Wanderer issues I truly enjoy -- the early Rufferto years. Met. Read Bone and Immortal Hulk and enjoyed both immensely. Currently working through Byrne's Fantastic Four, which has not been as awesome as I'd hoped. Partially met. I'm doing this a little (and really enjoying it) but I've still got close to 200 books to get through, all sitting in a longbox in the middle of my bedroom. Yikes. Partially met. 15 reviews, all Superman. Somehow, I got it in my mind to get to the Death of Superman this year, which is still about a dozen reviews away.I haven't touched anything else, though I've come close. Thing is, it takes only slightly more time to churn out a Youtube video, and those get so much more attention. I guess I'm just a slut for the spotlight. Partially met. 7 done.
