Beast World kind of took a step back for me, but I don't think it's Taylor's fault as it was the whole Waller and Doctor Hate(God what a terrible name and character design) that took it down for me and that's squarely Williamson's plot beat so it's more a case of editorial interference than bad writing here. It doesn't matter how good a writer Taylor is there just isn't a good way to pull off this Waller plot line he was given, the whole superheroes are bad and the government should control them is a poor plot line to begin with but then when you have the government stage the event that paints the heroes in a negative light it just kills it.

It looks like the only thing on the pull list this week (for me) is She-Hulk #4. From the cover, it looks pretty good. Hopefully I’ll have time tomorrow to pick it up.

As of right now, there's only 3 things in my pull all DC, but I don't think the Diamond or PRH orders have arrived at my lcs this week yet, or if they have, they haven't been fully processed and pulled yet, so there may be a few more added before tomorrow as those orders are processed.
Right now it's:
Batman Beyond #1 Facsimile Edition Titans Beast World 4 Looney Tunes 276
-M
edit to add: Usagi is supposed to be out this week at least, one of the Frazetta books is listed as 1/10 release, but they have been running late so who knows on that one.

Terry had a great origin to begin with in the cartoon but the adaptation actually has some extended scenes that were really good.

There's a couple with Darwyn covers I am looking for, but this will be the first. I've seen a handful of eps of the series, but it was not one I watched all the way through (it came out at a time when I was juggling too many things to watch any TV and I've never gone back and tracked it down to watch). -M

Usagi Yojimbo: Ice & Snow #4 Zorro: Man of the Dead #1 (Sean Murphy's Zorro series) -M

Action Comics #1061Written by Jason Aaron Art by John Timms Summary: Before Bizzaro begins the lives of all the wizards of Zerox he no travel to Earth to make Superman's life the same never again. Plot: If you couldn't tell from the above summary, I hate Bizzaro and it seems like Jason Aaron hates him too In the first issue of what is being called Superman Super-Stars where DC is giving the reins of Action Comics over to some of the biggest talents in comics Jason Aaron really comes out swinging for the fences with this Bizzaro story and he succeeds in knocking it out of the park. While Bizzaro stories can be fun slug fests(and this certainly was that, as I loved seeing them literally crash through a moon around Jupiter) Aaron really found a way to not only bring real pathos to Bizzaro but also create an interesting threat. Driven mad by the destruction of Bizzaroworld due to a multiversal event that he blames Superman for Bizzaro travels to a magical world in search of a way to both bring back his home and get revenge against his best pal Superman. And what's great about that is that it's a novel idea to actually have Bizzaro plan something out, but also that you actually feel for him as he isn't wrong as it's very possible that the multiversal event that killed his home and everyone he loves was caused by Superman and his friends. That kind of pathos makes you really feel for Bizzaro and the result of {Spoiler: Click to show}Turning Earth into Bizzato World and Superman himself into Bizzaro really surprised me, which is a pretty rare event in superhero comics these days. So while I'm sad to see Phillip Kennedy Johnson's Superman Family run on Action Comics come to an end( I really loved that concept) at least the replacement is off to a fantastic start. Art: John Timms has a fantastically bombastic, slightly cartooned style that really fits this over the top Bizzaro story perfectly. He has a look to his art with his squared jaws and sharp edges that reminds me of Bruce Timm's style from Superman TAS, but with a little bit more expressiveness to his features and more detailed back grounds. And that mix of simplicity with attention to detail really makes the art pop on every panel. Grade 10/10

Ilearned about it when Murphy was a guest on the Alex Toth in Depth podcast. -M The summary has me a little turned off with the modern setting and a traumatic break making him think he's the fictional character of Zorro...but I'm a sucker for Zorro so I still might try it.

Finished reading Ultimate Spider-Man #1 and really, really enjoyed it. I haven't read any of the other "new" Ultimate line but now I will have to go and check it out. It really feels like a completely different take, instead of just "what if Peter became Spidey in the 2000s". I haven't kept up with a Spider-Man title in years, but this could be the one.

Coincidentally, Batman Beyond began airing on January 10, 1999 on Kids' WB, so we discussed this on about the 25th Anniversary of the show. -M
