Is there much fuss about him? He's OK, good on some titles, misplaced on others. I think his main claim to fame is setting up the backstory for the G.I. Joe franchise and writing it for 40 years (with some pauses between).
Overall he's pretty quiet on most things and does not seem to have a huge ego, unlike some of his colleagues, but I'm not that in touch with American comics so I may have missed some dirt slinging.

I don’t know much about him. What is the fuss about ? Is there a fuss? I mean I can't add anything because I'm not 100% I've ever read anything he wrote. He never seemed to work on titles I had any interest in. I just have never noticed there's any kind of a fuss about him.

Let's put it this way: there's a few YouTube toy-themed channels where the hosts are extremely obsessed with the 1980s G.I. Joe toy line and comics, and some often argue that Hama's work was some great, important chapter in comic book history. I disagree with that, but I will leave it there.

I mean it was, apparently, a very big seller at least at first. I have zero context since I've never read an issue of G.I. Joe and have less than zero interest in changing that. It's just not the sort of thing I care about at all. I've just never seen any fuss anywhere I frequent. But there's a net negative chance I'd ever watch a video about those tiny little G.I. Joes.

Well, I think he shepherded Glanzman's A Sailor's Story through to publication, so that's enough for me.

He was in an episode of M.A.S.H.
He seems to be a swell guy.
He can draw.
He edited the Conan comics at Marvel during one of their worst periods, but on the upside he later got Jim Owsley to write Conan the barbarian, which was a very good move.
He successfully wrote G.I. Joe, and was the instigator of the way that franchise was developed at Hasbro. So he's to thank for millions of kids having crazy adventures with their toys.
Aaaaaaaand that's all I have.

He also co-created Confessor's Avatar Bucky O'Hare.
And edited The 'Nam, which was informed by his service in the actual war.

He wrote Wolverine #32-109 which I enjoyed for the most part. Some were hit or miss. The strongest issues for me was the combo of Hama and Silvestri. But I know for the most part Wolverine isn't popular here.

Larry Hama both wrote & drew the famous silent issue ( G.I. Joe #21), which has become quite legendary in its own right...

Larry and Ralph Reese worked with Wally Wood, then they were among the first to rent space from/work with/hang out with Neal Adams at the beginning of Continuity Studios. They were among the Crusty Bunkers.

I don’t know much about him. What is the fuss about ? What fuss?! I don't wanna diss the man, but anything I've ever read of his was pedestrian at best.

He also co-created Confessor's Avatar Bucky O'Hare. It's NOT Bucky O' Hare, dammit! That's Jaxxon, the green carnivorous space-rabbit smuggler from Coachelle Prime, as seen in Marvel's original Star Wars comic.

Writing over 300 issues of a title is nothing to sneeze at. I wish he'd penciled a few more things.
