I was todays year old when I discovered that the “King of Queens “ show ended with them getting divorced. That’s a terrible ending. Are there Any shows where you didn’t like the ending ?

I was todays year old when I discovered that the “King of Queens “ show ended with them getting divorced. That’s a terrible ending. Are there Any shows where you didn’t like the ending ? Most. It's hard to bring any show that you love to a satisfying conclusion. People still whine about Sienfeld and The Sopranos. I mean, most shows get unceremoniously cancelled, so if you're actually lucky enough to get to a final episode, there's a good chance the show has already lost much of the magic that originally made it special. Even if that's not the case, finding a satisfying ending is tough as all heck. Looking at my favorite shows of all time: Star Trek The Next Generation: PERFECT ending. Star trek Deep Space Nine: Not really an ending at all. Just set up a cliffhanger that was never answered. The Office: The show took a serious wrong turn many episodes earlier. I don't even remember the final episode. I was already done. Parks and Recreation: Boy they tried, but that whole final season was weird. How I Met Your Mother: The final season effectively ruined my love of the entire show. Community: The show lost its original dynamic two seasons earlier but was still working surprisingly well. The final episode was quiet and a little depressing. Hard to do a proper send-off when three of the core cast members who made it special for all of those years are no longer on the show.

Plenty that I wasn't crazy about, but in terms of the opposite, Newhart to me still has the best ending of all time.

(...) Parks and Recreation: Boy they tried, but that whole final season was weird. Not so much weird as kind of superfluous. I'll admit that I think a lot of it is still funny, but the last episode of the preceding season was just such a perfect way to end it. And yeah, TNG had a great ending. So did Voyager. And, yes, Newhart.
A show that sort of had two endings, neither of which I liked back in the day when I absolutely *loved* it, was Magnum, P.I. Apparently, it was supposed to end with the 7th season, but then another one was added, so the last episode of what became the penultimate season ended with Magnum dying from a gunshot wound - which is a really downer way to end a more-or-less light-hearted show. Then in the actual final episode, he rejoins the navy - which I thought was almost worse than having him die.

Ah yes, the curse of the show that finds a proper ending because it has been cancelled, but then gets renewed after and has to figure out how to make that work. I actually think that might explain Parks and Recreation. It's also what killed Scrubs, though Community was able to survive it again and again.

Are you sure they got divorced? I haven't seen the finale myself but it seems they sorted it out?

I don't feel like I've watched alot of TV from beginning to end, and those I have watched the ending didn't strike me particularly. I think if it's a show I like I don't want it to end so I always hope there will be more (and sometimes there is... like Justified), and if I don't like it that much I probably don't watch through tot he end.
Is that odd?
Like I vaguely remember the last ep of ST:TNG, but I knew it wasn't really the end, as movies were coming, so it didn't really make a particular impact on me.

Thanks for the correction. The clip I saw was misleading.

As a small child, the ending to Blake's 7 was a big downer. But OTOH I still remember it vividly decades later, so it does have something going for it.

The ending with the sitcom “Alf” had him getting captured by the government. That’s was quite jarring.

Yeah, most of the older hows I liked I had already stopped watching before their final season so I didn't see the final episode. STNG is an example for me. DS9 I saw only the first season or two but I might go back and try that show again. The others on your list I haven't seen.
Seinfeld I did watch to the end. That's an interesting one and probably needs a discussion of its own. I don't think it was a complete wash-out, more a logical extension of where the show had been heading for some time - but it could certainly be argued that the show shouldn't have taken that direction in the first place.

I was todays year old when I discovered that the “King of Queens “ show ended with them getting divorced. That’s a terrible ending. Are there Any shows where you didn’t like the ending ? Any wrestling show that got cancelled… No, seriously, there are so many. Zoo ended on a cliffhanger, I really wanted to see that wrapped up. Frustratingly, I think of so many 80s shows which weren’t so much about a bad ending as such, but more about a lack of resolutions pertaining to bad guys. It sure would have been nice to see Inspector Gadget finally arrest Doctor Claw, for instance. Or a final resolution between, say, He-Man and Skeletor, Thundercats and Mum-Ra, etc. I think for me, a really unsatisfying final season was Beauty and the Beast. Spoilers for anyone who hasn’t seen the 1987-1990 show, but, unavoidable though it was, once Linda Hamilton left, that was the end. The concept of a love interest for Beast is not something that is really interchangeable.
