Huh. I didn't know that. They fixed that in the reprint I have. But I'm at the library, let me see if their copy of FF vol. 1 is in. Yep! Red trunks in the most recent reprint! Huh. This is the Namor you do not like. This is the Namor I find hilarious. hahaha. But I really, really, REALLY want a golden age Namor t-shirt. I think I have just the scan I want, too. I do not. His appearance in FF # 4 was pretty cool, but I was not a fan of everything in the 5-6 years after that. It's not just Subby though - I gravitate towards the first/original versions of lots of characters: Wonder Woman peaked under Marston, Spider-man has all been downhill since Ditko, the only Plastic Man worth a crap is Jack Cole, Fantastic Four never worked as well after Kirby left, the best Superman stuff was pre-1942. GOLDEN AGE BLACK WIDOW FOREVER!!! Some Silver Age re-introductions are tolerable - Infantino is THE Flash artist, Kubert is THE Hawkman artist, and Kane is THE Atom artist. The thing about Sub-Mariner is that the WRONG version gained a lot of traction. Everyone screws up Wonder Woman but at least they ignore what the last guy was doing and screw it up in an original way with a completely new supporting cast. That is a cool shirt, though. I should read more of John Buscema's Subby.

After I read that Everett interview the other day, it made me even MORE sad for what Namor has been turned into. Especially after Everett really emphasizes that when he left comics and came back, Sub-Mariner was NOT what he had EVER intended for the character. But I am not from that time, so I can enjoy Namor up through recent. But I never could stand him with the X-Men. Except for this issue.

Wow. That's a beautiful X-Men #6. That may be the last appearance of Namor's red trunks. He had worn them the previous month in Fantastic Four #27, but by his next appearance in that book, #33, he is in the green trunks again. Thank you, Phil. It's a 7.5, but I think it's more an 8.0. It is rather pretty. I'm quite happy with it. It looks great...put that one in a mylar

I asked my LCS to get me Love and Rockets V.1. They got me this instead. No, that's right. That's A Love and Rockets vol. 1. L & R is 2.2 creators: Jaime, Gilbert, and sometimes Mario. The above volume reprints the first of Jaime's stories - (Which I'm not a huge fan of, actually.) Their was another series of TPBs/HCs that started with vol. 1. They are larger page dimension-wise but less pages - the one you got is a better value. The first couple volumes had work from both Bros., but after volume 4 or so that series also split into Jaime and Gilbert ONLY books like the above. But I'm pretty sure those are out of print anyway, so your LCS guy did what he could. I don't like how that series is collected. Unnecessarily complicated.

I ordered the Nick Fury Agent of SHIELD omnibus for like $52 bucks yesterday. I've read some of that run but not all of it and look forward to reading the whole series.

Had to go pick up a desk for my daughter yesterday at IKEA, which put me on the other side of the city and which just happens to be near a LCS that I rarely ever get to visit. Stopped by after achieving my main goal and saw that they were having a sale on some Silver & Bronze Age backstock for $3/book or 10/$20, so I picked up: Can't beat that for $2 per book.

Super-Heroes Battle Super-Gorillas #1 features reprints of the following stories: Action Comics #238 (1958) Flash #172 (August 1967) Batman #75 (1953) Shouldn't Gotham City have a permanent Gorilla Boss, some refugee from Gorilla City who runs the city's organized crime? Everybody - even the Joker and the Penguin and Two-Face - is always careful about making sure the Gorilla Boss gets his take.

If your talking about the one that's titled S.H.I.E.L.D The Complete Collection...I picked it up the other day and can't wait to dive into it.

Nah, different books. The Omnibus has all the Steranko stuff in the Complete collection, plus the Kirby run and... whoever drew SHIELD after Steranko left and before it was cancelled. Herb Trimpe? I've never read anything after Steranko.
