Stopped in the lcs in town that is closing its doors soon and made one last haul there...
what I got...
Corto Maltese: Under the Sign of Capicorn tpb and a couple of new issues: Micronauts #1 from IDW and Last Days of Magic one-shot from Marvel...
but mostly picked up classic stuff... 50% off back issues Battle of the Planets #1 (Gold Key/Whitman) Rom, Space Knight #1 (Marvel) Shogun Warriors #1 (Marvel)
and some dollar bin fare (also 50% off) Grim Jack #17, 30, 48, 51 American Flagg! #12, 20, 42 Blackhawk #252 Dan Brereton's Nocturnals #5 Hammer of God (Nexus spin-off) 1-4 Nexus: The Liberator #2-4
and a classic toy...
the 1980 Star Wars Empire Strikes Back Tauntaun w/ Hoth Gear Luke Skywalker figure. It was loose (not in box) and Luke was missing his accessories, but it was only $5 for both.
Plus he threw in a copy of Afterlife with Archie #4 magazine format and the 6 parts of the make your own Captain America paper action figure Marvel promo.
He had a spinner rack for sale, but he had already received a half dozen bids/offers for it that put it way out of my price range. Will miss having the shop in town, but there are tons of shops int he area. I am sorry to see it close after 7 years though.

The book is new but it reprints material that can't be found in its original form : Tarzan vs the nazis!
I doubt it's possible to distill the concept of "adventure" to a higher degree than with such a title! This is volume three in Titan Books presentation of the Burne Hogarth Tarzan Sunday pages. I am more of a Russ Manning guy myself because of childhood imprinting, but Hogarth's work is amazingly impressive too! I beleive that around the same time this story was originally published in the strips, Prince Valiant had a story about him fighting the Huns.

And what a grand, operatic adventure that was!

My father took the kids on a shopping spree at a local video game/music/movie/book/comics store. And while they were picking out what they wanted I snagged these $1 issues that ended up being buy one get one free. Getting the issues I'm missing from each series to the single digits. imgur.com/a/bDlnU

I like that Thor #150. Seems to be where Romita got the idea for Thor #2 from Kirby. Both of who which, in my personal taste, don't usually appeal to me with their female figures. But, in this case they both do well with Hela. (I guess if it's real, hell won't be so bad if it's ruler is a gal.)

I've always liked Plastic Man and Jack Cole's work. Not as big on Woozy, until now. Read Plastic Man # 1 last night and got my head spun. This still holds up amazingly well 75 years later. Cole really was a genius. Hopefully we'll see more of Plaz with Rebirth and maybe they'll stick him in a Freedom Fighters title like they did during Convergence. I just realized, or remembered, that back in the old days, certain characters that didn't sell as well as others, were put on bi-monthly status (every other month, not twice a month like the call bi-monthly nowadays, sheesh). With a crazy creative team behind it, I think a Plastic Man Quarterly could work. It would work for other characters too that we want to see. Why not ?
