So my wife had an afternoon meeting at one of the other branches of her bank this afternoon, down Dayton way, and it happened ot be in the same plaza as the 2nd & Charles store I went to a month or so back. She asked me if I wanted to go and hang out in 2nd & Charles and shop comics while she had her meeting and then we would go out to dinner. I was happy to go comic hunting, packed up a couple of bags of old gaming stuff that was cluttering the shelves and no longer wanted and traded it in for some store credit there...
Found some interesting stuff too...
first..a Vinyl Thor bust bank...
that will look good on my shelf...
and then some trades....

Space Ghost (DC series) autographed by Joe Kelly ($8)

for dinner we went to a celebrated pizza joint in the area, one that has vintage photos of all the celebrities who have visited chowing on pizza there form the 70s to now, I noticed pics of everyone from Loni Anderson, Tony Randall, and Robert Urich in the 70s to members of the current pro sports teams in the area posing for pics of them eating pizza. The kicker was the guy taking the orders loved the tie die Jimi Hendrix t-shirt I was wearing, declared it Electric Ladyland Tuesday and gave us a free drink pitcher to have with our pizza saving us a few buck, but garnering us a few dirty looks from other patrons who were paying for their drinks.
On the way home, we drove a block out of our way to stop at Maverick's a comic and vintage toy store in that area that I hadn't been to since last year when I went to their Black Friday fill a long box for $40 blow out spectacular. I was mostly just stoiopping in to say hi and see if they had anything new, and was immediately tempted because they had a complete out of box Draconian Raider form the Buck Rogers TV show action figure line from the 70s-I had that ship as a kid and loved it. They also had a vintage complete off card Time Traveler from the Micronauts line, but I didn't go with any kind of buying budget and gave them a pass for now (I may go back in a week or so and see if they still have them). I didn't want to leave empty handed though, and I spotted a Kirby Silver Star #1 form PAcific on the wall with some other #1's in top notch shape and they were asking $4 for it, so I decided to get it to at least giv ethem a little business while I was there.
They had a couple of gorgeous Silver Age keys in the display case too (an FF 5, TOS 57 and more) that I oohed and ahhed at but were way out of my price range. I definitely need to go back there when I have more time and money to hunt through the longboxes and display cases.
So fun little excursion with some cool stuff in the haul.
