Haven't been buying too many classic comics lately, but I did score a Nexus #1 magazine in decent shape at a good price. Never had that one in my first collection, so it is one I am kinda psyched about having. I always read it in the reprint that First did later on.

I have a large tpb collecting all three issues. It was published by First after they moved from Capital comics. No record of course.

Pretty sure that was # 3. Still have mine. Yes you are correct hondo, I have one as well. I don't have a record player though. Kinda wish I did, as the record sounds awesome:

I felt old yesterday when I was with my wife in the car and her friend was in the car talking about "today's kids"

I almost pulled the trigger on a Batman #84 today that I found at an antique mall. The seller wanted $20 for it, which seemed way too good to be true, and of course, it was. It looked OK in the bag, with a decent amount of foxing and some creases, but something just didn't look right with the spine. I had the guy at the counter open it up for me, and as soon as he did, I could tell that the cover was completely detached, and the foxing on the back cover was horrific.
As I asked him to put it back in the bag, the owner of the facility came over and asked why I wasn't interested. I told him, and he asked if I was a big comics collector. When I told him I was, he said he had something in the back of the building to show me. This guy is a junk dealer who specializes in cleaning out old homes, and he had a box of comics back there. Nothing too interesting in it outside of some early-number Star Wars issues that I already have; most of it was old Gold Key books, things like Yogi Bear and the like. He asked how I would price those and I told him if he wanted to move them, he should put them in a $.50 pile, as none of them was in great condition.
Then he asked me what affected which books were valuable and how grading was done, so I gave him a quick tutorial before he got buzzed to the front of the building. As we walked up there together, he asked me to write down my name and number, saying he would consult with me when he gets comics in the future; he said "I know a lot about antiques and stuff like that, but absolutely nothing about comics, so having someone to call on will be helpful." Probably won't pay anything, but the place is only 15 minutes from my house and if it gives me first look at some attic finds, it might be worthwhile in terms of me being able to snag some things before the general public can look at them.

Went to the lcs where I have my pull list today and in the same town a block or so away is a used bookstore that has a lot of back issue comics. They were having a May comic sale, 30% off all back issues and all $1 books were quarter books instead.
There was a lot of good stuff in those quarter bins and I went a little overboard (149 quarter books) and found some good stuff in the back issue bins...
what I got...all 30% off
Destroy by Scott McCloud Treasury sized edition
Heavy Metal #4 (Moebius cover), #16 and #75
Anything Goes #6 (Usagi cover)
Captain Victory (I had been putting a run together before Tolworthy started his thread but I only had about half of it, I picked up a chunk of what I was missing... #7, 9, 12, 13 (I only need #5 now)
John Carter, Warlord of Mars (from Marvel) #11-one of 2 issues I needed, it routinely goes for $15-$25 on Lonestar auctions because it is the origin of Dejah Thoriss and I always pass on it because I don't want to spend that much on it, this was a F/F- copy priced at...$2 minus the 30%
Tarzan (Marvel) Annual 1
Tarzan #207 (1st DC issue, in G+ for $5 minus 30%)
Cheval Noir #1
Red Circle Sorcery #6
and then the quarter books....
Alien Encounters (Eclipse) 2 American Flagg! 2, 3, 6, 9, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 22, 23, 26, 27, 28, 33, 35, 36 Anything Goes 1, 2 Berni Wrightson, Master of the MAcabre (Pacific) #1 Black Lamb (Helix, Tim Truman) 2, 3, 4, 5 Bold Adventure (Pacific Comics) 1, 3 Coyote (Englehart) 2, 3, 4, 5, 9, 10 Critters #8, 9 Dalgoda #1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8 Dark Horse Presents Vol. 1 #1, 126 Defenders 63, 64, 71, 74, 75, 76, 99, 103, 104, 105, 106, 109, 116, 117, 120, 121, 122, 123, 124 Dr. Fate #25 Elric #0 (Topps) featuring Neil Gaiman & P.Craig Russell's adaptation of One Life Furnished in Early Moorcock) Grimjack 9, 10, 18 Justice Society of America (1991 series) 1, 2 Justice Society of America (1992 series) 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 King Conan 3, 4 (last 2 issues I needed) Madame Xanadu #1 (Englehart & Rogers) Manhunter (Ostrander/Yale series) 1, 2, 4, 5 Martian Manhunter (Ostrander) 3 Marvel Two-In-One 7 Mask (mini) 2 Moonshadow (Epic) 11 Morlock 2001 (Atlas) 2 Nexus: Executioner's Song #1 Nightforce (80s) 2, 14 Nightforce (90s) 2, 12 Nightmares #1 (Eclipse, featuring Doug Moench, Paul Gulacy & Don McGregor) Orion (Simonson) 17, 20 Satan's Six (Topps Kirbyverse) 2, 3 Scout #24 Scout: War Shaman 4 Secret Origins #11 (Golden Age HAwkman & Power Girl) The Spirit (Kitchen Sink) 5, 11, 12, 14, 15, 23, 41, 42, 43, 49, 50 Star * Reach #4 Thor 286, 287, 288, 289, 290, 292, 295, 296, 299, 302, 308, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325, 327, 334, 335, 342, 347, 352, 353, 354, 355, 357, 359, 360, 361, 362, 363, 364, 369, 371, 375, 376 Thriller #1 Unknown Worlds of Frank Brunner #1 Vengeance Squad (Modern Comics reprint) 6

I have 98 % of those. Good stuff. Don't have Vengeance Squad, MASK, or Manhunter. Sounds like a great sale ! Picked up the first volume each from Dark Horse's manga sale of Astro Boy, Blade of the Immortal, and The Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service. I knew the other two and had some issues from the 80's, but the Corpse Delivery Service was unknown to me until I read the overview and looked at the preview. It looks great !

Me too. Along with a few other Plastic Man books that I've wanted to read for several years. I've always liked Plastic Man and Jack Cole's work. Not as big on Woozy, until now. Read Plastic Man # 1 last night and got my head spun. This still holds up amazingly well 75 years later. Cole really was a genius. Finally read #1. A steal for 99 cents. As much as I generally consider myself to be a modern comics reader first, I love the amount of story that they used to pack into each issue. I'm hopelessly behind in my reading but I'm going to have to make some room in my reading schedule for more of the original Plastic Man issues.
