I had to have one of these: It will be by far the oldest issue of Justice League of America that I've ever owned. But I need it because it has Queen Bee! And Batgirl! And also because it is totally insane! And I don't think I've ever read it in color before. The same dealer had a bunch of issues of Devil Dinosaur, so I bought #6, #7, #8, and #9. Which means I'll only be missing #5.

In addition to some more recent comics (Dark Knight III: The Master Race #3 (a cool Wonder Woman variant) and six issues of New 52 Wonder Woman), I also ordered this: Devil Dinosaur #5! I bought the first four issues way back when; they were brand new. And I ordered #6 to #9 just a few days ago. Seeing that cover reminds me that the "NEXT ISSUE" blurb at the end of #4 promised "Journey to the Center of the Ants." As a kid, I thought that was so stupid! (And it may be why I quit getting Devil Dinosaur.) But as an adult, I'm looking at that cover and thinking: "AWESOME!"

Got a surprise in my mailbox today from John Keyt, who used to frequent these boards a while back and whomI keep in touch with over at the Stash My Comics forum. He saw that I had picked up a handful of issues of the MArvle Doc Savage mag and sent me one of the issue sI still needed out ofthe blue....#8... (using a stock picture as I already put the issue away this afternoon). John is one of the most genuinely nice guys I have met in my 35+ years of collecting. -M

Don't have pics today (phone is out of commission) but got some cool stuff: JLA 7-19, plus the JSA crossover issues (from the Meltzer then McDuffie version) Conan 171-180 (to buy enough for free shipping) .. about $1 each Then for $9.95 (plus some steep shipping) Superman 312-317 I got #316 locally for $3, which both referred to a cool story right before it and was a cliff hanger, so I hit e-bay and, at first, was really sad that 317 was a cool Neal Adams cover that made it kinda expensive. Then I looked for lots and found this one about to end with no bids.. it was like fate! Very pleased

I just ordered a low-grade copy of Batman Annual #3. I also ordered Batgirl #26, the New 52 version. It's the conclusion of a great storyline where Commissioner Gordon is hunting down Batgirl because she killed James Gordon Jr., unaware that Batgirl is his own daughter!

As I mentioned elsewhere, I won the Bernie Wrightson Werewolf print in the last Lonestar auction, but to make shipping worthwhile, I added a handful of books to the order...
Creatures on the Loose #22 (1st Thongor and completes Thongor run for me) Black Lamb #6 (Tim Truman sci-fi series form DC/Helix, this completes series for me) Demon #4-5 (Kirby series, 2 of 5 issues I needed from that series) Heavy Metal #26 (May 1979)(earliest issue of Heavy Metal I needed, now need 1 issue to complete '77-'79, the first 3 years of series) Jonny Quest #12 (Comico)(1 of 4 issues I needed to complete series) Savage Sword of Conan #90 (down to 17 issues needed to complete run) Shaman's Tears #0 (Grell, completes series) Supreme Blue Rose #7 (Warren Ellis/Tula Lotay-I missed the final issue when I stopped buying new comics for a year, competes series) Tarzan #29 (Marvel; down to needing 1 issue and 1 annual to complete series) Twilight #3 (Chaykin/Garcia-Lopez, completes mini series) Unknown Worlds of Frank Brunner 2 (completes series)

Stopped at a antique store in Bar Harbor Maine and saw all this in the second floor. Sadly, although they has this and about 11 boxes more, I couldn't pull the trigger and buy anything. They had some books I wanted but the prices were more than I wanted to spend.

It's got that "You can call me queen Bee" lyric, and my mind goes to our favorite apian villainess. I first think of the Queen Bee in Young Justice, though.

It's funny, but when I hear that Lord song "Royals" I think of Queen Bee! It's got that "You can call me queen Bee" lyric, and my mind goes to our favorite apian villainess. I first think of the Queen Bee in Young Justice, though. I frequently think of the Grand Funk Railroad song ("Queen Bee") from the Heavy Metal soundtrack. I was flipping through the cable schedule, just taking a look at the movies showing in the immediate future on channels like MOVIES! and FXM and THIS, making sure I wasn't missing something ESSENTIAL (for example, I DVRed The Wicked Dreams of Paula Schultz (1968), which is must-see because it has Elke Sommer and half the cast (Bob Crane, Werner Klemperer, John Banner and Leon Askin) of "Hogan's Heroes") and I came across a listing for Queen Bee. It's from 1955 and it stars Joan Crawford. I've heard of it but I hadn't thought about it lately, and I've never seen it. I might have read the summary but I don't remember it. It stars Joan Crawford and it's called Queen Bee, and that's more than enough for me! I think it's possible that the physical look of Queen Bee was based on Charlotte Rampling, though I admit I've never heard this suggested anywhere except in my own head-movies. (I've never checked the timing either. Charlotte Rampling may not have made any movies yet when Queen Bee first appeared.) But seeing that Joan Crawford made a movie called Queen Bee makes me think that young Joan would have made a pretty awesome Zazzala. Think Joan in the 1930s, in something like Rain or Dancing Lady. Or maybe even in the late 1920s, like when she made The Unknown with Lon Chaney. I haven't got JLA #60 yet. Cortana told me to expect it yesterday!

We placed an online order recently, first in a while. Some She-Hulks and Teen Titans for the wife, a few newer things for me (including the gold logo High Society and a variant cover for I Hate Fairyland 7 with the series' other title). And I got these - because of a discussion on this forum cause I've been buying the books lately and had to try it and some Charlton romances, including this classic which I had to have for that cover. I may review it here, if I can find that romance thread. But let's just say the story does not live up to the cover.

That Leather Boy on the right is just too bizarre for words. This issue is on my want list now. If only for a gag gift to some married friends.

Plugged some final holes in my Atlas-Seaboard collection today.
Now just searching for some reasonably priced copies of the rare "Vicki".
