Picked these up filling in the holes in my collection. Now have a complete collection of the first series ! I've gotten a couple of issues from later volumes, but frankly, most of them are weak compared to these Bronze Age gems IMO. I found the second series to be weak in their stories. Maybe because all the major turning points were covered in the first series.

Bought 2 issues of Sandman Mystery Theather I was missing yesterday in my local shop. I still have quite a few issues to go, something like 15-20 issues, but I am getting closer. Normally I am okay with having collected editions of a series instead of single issues because of Space and time, but this series has such great covers I really want to have them all. Next I am going to look for some ROM issues because of recomendations from people here.

Looking forward to getting in this later Nice. I bought that on Comixology this week because of the Ironfist sale. I know a lot of posters on here are against digital but when I have the oppertunity to buy a whole Collection like this for less then 4 Euros I am fine with it not being physical, even if I would prefer an actual copy.

That epic line is nice. Full color is always better than what the Essential line was offering. Digital is okay But I find myself skimming through a digital comic sometimes while I'm reading it. With The physical copy I study the pages and spend more time with it.

Picked up the third and final volume collecting Doug Wright's Canadian comic strip Nipper from the mid to late 60s. Got it for $4 including shipping. For those unfamiliar with the strip, here's what I said about volume one on Goodreads (and it would continue to hold true for volume 2). "I'd never before heard of Doug Wright or Nipper. But it was recommended by a number of strip reprints from Amazon and I was able to get this collection very inexpensively. And I'm glad I did. This is just a really interesting look at Canadian family life in the early 60s. I'm an American...And about a decade too young to completely relate to all of what is presented here. But it has the feel of the photos and stories of my older siblings...with a north of the border twist. And that makes it a tad more interesting. The strip centers on Dad, Mom and two young boys, one just starting off to school, the other a couple years younger. In less deft hands this could be a recipe for treacle (see The Family Circus). But Wright is much more deft than that. The father has a definite edge...it's clear he sometimes is at wits end with his boys. The boys are actually boys. They scuffle with each other, with other boys in the neighborhood, but they are always brothers with all that entails. Really incredible writing. Wright is equally deft at his artwork. This is a lovely strip firmly set in suburbia. The children don't look like little adults. There's a use of three colors (white, black and red) that is very effective, though it also dates the work. And that, again, is part of the charm. This is close to five stars. The format, however, is a tad lightweight for me to do that. But the contents are first rate and highly recommended."

Never heard of Nipper but it sounds good. Thanks for the write up Slam. It's a really cool little strip and Drawn & Quarterly did three collections that run from 1963 - 1968. They're pretty darn cheap through Amazon Marketplace which is where I've gotten all three. It's feel-good stuff, nostalgia without being overly sentimental.

I do too, that's why I post any good deals I find, even if it's not characters or titles I personally like, in the Bargain Hunter's thread.
Hopefully someone who does like it can take advantage of the sale.
