What I did like was that he wrote Warlock as more of a schemer. It was an interesting change from the days before Avengers Annual #7.

Especially since that's one of his go to insults to Galactus all the time.

This week's haul. I have no idea what "The Daredevil Chronicles" is, but it's got a nice front and back cover by Miller and Janson.

This week's haul. I have no idea what "The Daredevil Chronicles" is, but it's got a nice front and back cover by Miller and Janson. Those chronicle mags were nice. I have the Avengers and FF ones. I think I have that DD one too. Nice checklist and articles about the runs. Nice bunch of books you got there.

I had a feeling Chronicles was going to be a fan mag when I picked it up. I'm working on finishing up my collection of Miller's work as writer on DD and Elektra, so it'll be a nice companion piece.

I'm working on finishing up my collection of Miller's work as writer on DD and Elektra. . . Ah, the Miller Daredevils! They're truly transformative. In myriad ways they changed not just the character, but also the writer and the reader! It's one of those runs that remains with you. Like a night out with a pretty girl; the passage of time only enhances it.

As someone who live and grew up reading European comics album from the library I always enjoyed Lucky Luke. So since comixology has a sale going on right now where some of them are 0,99 Euro I thought I would do my self the favor of buying these. I bought vol: 4, 8, 14 and 17. Looking forward to reading these. I know I read some of them before, but I dont remember whether I read them all.

Excited to have picked up a comic that I've been after for a good while, Showcase #77 featuring the first appearance of Angel and the Ape. I want to eventually own all of this short-lived run, but the duo's first appearance was always a little too pricey for me (I'm a very thrifty comic collector). I scored this copy for a measly £8 including shipping. It's probably in VG condition or thereabouts and over here in the UK would usually be going for three times what I paid for it.

So the day's comic haul from C4 (Champion City Comics Con (see toy thread for commissions and toys) Start with actual newer stuff, the Halloween Comicfest giveaways, and an issue of Dark Horse Presents I bought from recent winner of the Harvey Award for most promising new talent Chad Lambert that features the first installment of his Kill or Be Killed story, signed by Chad. I've known Chad for a few years and even attended a roast of him a few years back at a previous C4, but I like his stuff and wanted to support his books so grabbed this from him today. Now for the classic stuff... A pair of Treasuries...Conan and Tarzan... a bargain at $15 for the pair. a bunch of $5 trades... lots of classic Marvel-the Epic Collection for Waid's Cap, the early Thor, Monster of Frankenstein, Lee/Kirby Inhumans, Howard the Duck, a Doc Savage double novel, Starlin and Lim's Infinity Finale, and Saga vol. 5. They were $6 each of 4 for $20, so I snagged 2 groups of 4. A bunch of mags... the Unknown Worlds of Science Fiction cost a 5 spot, the rest were $1 each. There's a Marvel Index for Conan there I had never seen before that sports of gorgeous cover by Tim Conrad. a batch of $1 books... finished off the DC Tor run by Kubert, got a handful of Phantom issues plus Kamandi, Tarzan, and 1 of the 4 Jonny Quest issues I needed to complete the Comico run. more $1 books, this time some Charlton stuff, Yang and Vengeance Squad... and a third batch of $1 books, this time a big ole pile of Rom issues, about 2/3 of what I needed to complete the run... These were just some fun pick ups out of a 3/$1 box, I couldn't pass up the Rocketeer book, and grabbed the Archie digest sto make it an even $1... The last batch of books ranged form $10 to $25 each on sticker price, but the delaer had them all in a box for $3 each, so I grabbed a bunch of them... a few Phantom issues, a couple of early Kamandi issues and a Kubert Tarzan issue. So plenty added to my read piles along with some cool new art commissions and a couple of toys. Also got to see that Flash Gordon rarity I posted about int he con thread, meet up with some old acquaintances and talk comics, art, gaming, etc. for the day, so all in all, a good day at the con. -M PS with the 2 issues of Savage Sword of Conan I picked up today, I am down to an even dozen issues needed to complete the run.

Oh man Mrp, I love those Charlton Phantom issues. I remember as a kid, having one that had early Jim Aparo artwork. You totally scored great books for those prices.
