My wife was placing an Amazon order this morning that included a lot of add-on items and needed to order something directly form Amazon to make it work, so told me to pick out a trade to get to make the order go, so I ordered this... Vol. 3 of the Silver Age JLA series (I have vol 1 and 2 already) collecting JLA #20-30 including the first JLA/JSA cross-over (which I have only read 1 part of as I used to own a copy of JLA 21 beat up but readable but it was lost years ago and I never read the conclusion of the story). It was an unexpected purchase, but I look forward to getting this collection. -M Is this book HC and In color ? softcover trade and in color. The Omnibus is hardcover, but the material in the omnibus was released as 3 softcover trades as well. -M

I have the first Essential JLA book and I found it unreadable. Maybe in color it will be better.

Essentials are Marvel trademark. Think you mean Showcase Presents. You don't likee? C'mon now. Fights against the likes of Despero, Kanjar Ro, Doctor Destiny, Professor Amos Fortune, Felix Faust, the three demons Abnegazar/Rath/Ghast, Doctor Light and the beginning of annual JSA/JlA meetings? Yes these are written more towards the children of the world but still they are fun. Color does help though with the JLA during these "simpler" less detailed artistic times of Mike Sekowsky.

Yes, Showcase. The color would improve the experience even with the bland characterizations of the heroes involved.

I have the first Essential JLA book and I found it unreadable. Maybe in color it will be better. I read the earliest issues in the DC Archives for JLA years ago. Some of them are kind of awesome in their wonderful magical Silver Age silliness. The first Amos Fortune story, Amazo, Despero. But yeah an awful lot of JLA is kinda of hard to take for the first 100 issues or so. Best in small doses. And color helps a lot. That said, I wouldn't trade my beat-up JLA #61 for anything! Queen Bee! And Batgirl guest stars! It's awesome!

the first row, Conan, Echo of Future Past, Gemstone reprint of EC's Valor... -M I love those Gemstone reprints. They did collections that collected five issues of the magazines and I bought a ton of them on E-Bay for next nothing about 10 years ago. My boys absolutely loved them and read the one that collected the first five issues of Two-Fisted tales to absolute death.

I stumbled across this listing online. It was not advertised the greatest but I took a chance because Amazing Spider-Man #20 is a book that, even in rough condition, seems to command a $50-75 price. I scored both and am very happy because Scorpion is my favourite villain. The one has a piece missing but I am hoping that is all, aside from minor wear. I will gladly take it for the price I paid

What Caped Crusader said! I'd love to read that Captain Thunder story. And Action #419 is the first Human Target, an underrated series. What a lovely gesture, mrp! To be fair, ICC sent me two of the Cerebus phone books a month or so ago, so when I decided I was culling a bunch of stuff I gave him first crack at what Thor and Bronze Age Supes stuff I was getting rid of because I knew he would get more enjoyment out of it than any of my dealer friends. -M When you decide to get rid of some bronze age Marvel stuff, lemme know!!! Remember those SSoC I sent you? Wink Wink, Nod nod

Champion City Con is at the end of the month, and my dealer acquaintance is the con organizer, so once the show is done we will be working out the details of him buying the rest of my vintage rpg stuff and comics I am purging and my wife's X-collection, so I would need to get the list in the next week or two to be able to pull anything out of the stuff I am purging for you. -M

Went to a sale at the local public library yesterday. The comics & manga section was almost empty by the time I got there, but I did pick up two things for about 25 cents each:
art spiegelman's In The Shadow of No Towers and issue #2 of "Last of the Viking Heroes" by Michael Thibodeaux, from 1987.

I ordered Detective Comics #387 from eBay yesterday. When I get it, I'll have every issue of Detective Comics from #366 to the present. If you count the New 52 and Rebirth (which just reached #966), I'll have 600 consecutive issues of Detective Comics!

Thanks for supporting the early days of the Justice League and I loved the first 100 stories and doesn't matter the stories are in Black and White or in Color ... just wanted to let you know that. I loved these stories very dearly and they have a special place in my heart.
