I just ordered this off eBay: I was going to take a break from buying old Detective Comics for a while, but I was browsing and I saw this "Doomed Batwoman" cover and I haven't read a new Batwoman story for a while, plus there's that dude running away - Star-Man! - and he looks SO GOOFY! Plus it's at a circus! The whole package was too tempting. I HOPE IT DOESN'T TURN OUT TO BE ALIENS!

My mom sent me an Amazon gift car dot get whatever I wanted and told me to order so it arrives to open for Christmas, so I placed the order for a few things, mostly classic stuff, except for Ragnarok but that's by a classic creator in Simonson)
-Usagi Yojimbo Vol. 3 and 5 (completing the Fantagraphics trades for me) -Golden Age Wonder Woman Vol. 1 tpb -Ragnarok by Walter Simonson Vol. 1 -Bone Sharps, Cowboys and Thunder Lizards by Jim Ottaviani (which has intrigued me since David Petersen of Mouseguard fame mentioned it during his keynote speech at the Ringos as the one book he most often recommends to turn people on to comics)

Bought a Howard The Duck Omnibus for my birthday, really can't say enough for the wonderful coloring job. I don't know what it is, but digital coloring of older comics just sometimes looks a bit off (like Dark Horse's reprints of Marvel-Era Conan) or eye glaringly bright. Thankfully, they've chosen some subdued hues that look almost exactly like the original colors Also got a Captain America Value-Pack Grab Bag from Lonestar Comics/mycomicshop.com, came with a very good assortment of early to late 80's cap goodness (even managed to snag a couple of issues of Thomas' Invaders) and some later stuff like Issue #5 of White And on a weird note, while I do love the fresh smell of the HTD Omnibus' paper, I think I still prefer the potent aroma of old newspulp like my Cap comics have

Thankfully, they've chosen some subdued hues that look almost exactly like the original colors I didn't know the Howard omnibus was recolored. I see in the front it credits "color restoration" but what exactly does that mean? On the same subject I have mixed feelings about the Thor omnibus. The new coloring generally looks "nice" but sometimes it seems too much (does everything have to have a gradient?) Happy to have the collection but the purist in me wishes they'd stuck with the original coloring.
