My first CGC purchase... ![](https://s19.postimg.org/jqy53hf83/AC500.jpg) Comic looks to be about perfect, but perhaps the 9.2 grade is because the cover is slightly off centered or the pages are "off white/white" instead of just "white"?

The centering and page quality should not affect the grade on this. Page quality usually only comes into play for higher grade books if it's in the cream or below range for very high grade books. Off-white is totally fine, and the centering is considered an aesthetic issue, not a gradable flaw.
If there aren't any color breaking spine ticks or anything, it's possible there's something internal, like an interior page tear or something. You should be able to get the grader's notes on this book by paying a small fee to CGC and entering the registration code number, though the notes may or may not tell you anything of use.

As I mentioned over in the ask a question thread, I just bought a big box of trashed comics and parts of comics, the contents of which were somewhat shrouded in mystery, though I had some idea of a few things I was going to get. The box arrived yesterday with plenty of surprises. I'm still trying to piece everything together, but this is what I've figured out so far. First, complete comics that I don't care much about: ![](https://i.imgur.com/I2BlysA.jpg) Complete comics that are cool, including a Star Trek #1 and a Justice League of America #7: ![](https://i.imgur.com/U8BMUgO.jpg) Almost complete comics - the Superboy #86 is complete, except the first page is torn in half vertically, with the right side missing. The others are all missing the back cover, though I have two back covers in the pile of parts, so hopefully they match these books: ![](https://i.imgur.com/IfrNQwc.jpg) Complete coverless comics: ![](https://i.imgur.com/09g0LSb.jpg) Green Lantern #12 World's Finest #116 Action Comics #269 Superman #146 Superman #156 Detective Comics #290 Sea Devils #1 Wonder Woman #118 Brave and the Bold #67 Unexpected #78 House of Mystery #237 Master of Kung-Fu #22 Chip 'n' Dale #17 Spooky #38 Devil Kids #42 Treasure Chest #? For some reason, Star Trek #50 (1993) Finally, bunch of covers and random parts - Superboy #83 without the first wrap, World's Finest #120 missing the first wrap, etc. Most of Unexpected #64, most of Batman Annual #1, plus half of the back cover of Superman Annual #6: ![](https://i.imgur.com/5KfYs8A.jpg) And the big surprise - Justice League of America #1, which is missing the cover and the first wrap: ![](https://i.imgur.com/R4xOMp5.jpg) How cool is that?! I paid $27 for the box, and couldn't be happier with it. Well, if the rest of that Justice league of America #1 was there, that would have made me a litle happier. But it's been a lot of fun sorting through this pile of stuff and slowly piecing the comics back together.

And how can you not care about Bonanza? It's...Bonanza. I've never actually read through an issue of Treasure Chest. What is the Gold Key with the photo-cover that is covered by the issue of Tarzan?

And how can you not care about Bonanza? It's...Bonanza. I've never actually read through an issue of Treasure Chest. What is the Gold Key with the photo-cover that is covered by the issue of Tarzan? Treasure Chest is actually pretty interesting. it's a mix of boy's adventure and morality plays, plus Catholic history. One of the issues, for instance, boasts the thrilling promise on the cover that the issue begins the life story of Pope John XXIII, complete with a full page photo cover. The kids must have been beside themselves with excitement when they saw that cover. But there's some cool stuff mixed in - Joe Sinnott did the art for at least one of these that I took a quick look at. Frustratingly, one of the issues was #15 in a year when the even-numbered issues were presenting an infamous serial called "This Godless Communism." I was really hoping to get some issues with that, but just missed out. Bonanza is a little before my time, though I do like the graphic design of this cover. The Gold Key I hid behind the others is an issue of I Spy with a Bill Cosby cover. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess the market for comics with Cosby covers has declined recently.

Treasure Chest also has Crandall, Ingels, Giroadano, and others.

We were out down Dayton way this afternoon, and found another Ollie's, so I went in to see what they had from the DC truckload sale, and found quite a few things our local Ollie's didn't get... ![](https://i.imgur.com/qsSIdMn.jpg?1) Showcase Presents Batman Vol. 6 Showcase Presents Jonah Hex Vol. 2 Showcase Presents Ghosts Vol. 1 Justice League Unlimited Vol. 1 Superman vs. Darkseid Superman vs. Mongul J. Nice bunch of books , mrp. My wife bought me the Teen Titan Games GN for Christmas and I'm sure she paid a lot more for it than you did.

What exactly are coverless comics worth, a certain percentage of the "poor" grade?? With the first wrap missing as well that would bring the value down significantly more I would assume. I suppose if someone owns a complete copy but certain pages are torn or chunks missing then a coverless copy could be combined to make it a whole. I think I read somewhere once that people buy coverless comics and then attach photocopied covers to make them more aesthetically pleasing.

Some people do that, more so if the comic has some value.
Personally, I am not a fan of coverless books. The cover is half the joy for me and even if it is worn, to have it there is much more preferred. That being said, if I stumbled upon a rare or old enough book missing its cover, I would still be happy. A coverless #1 of a Silver Age book still commands some value depending on the issue.

I think I read somewhere once that people buy coverless comics and then attach photocopied covers to make them more aesthetically pleasing. Depends on the book. A coverless copy of All Star Comics #8, grades 0.3 just went for $3061 in the January Prime Auction at Lonestar, with 32 bids on it. auction pageOn the other hand I got almost a full short box of coverless books or books with detached covers for $10 from a dealer friend of mine that was mostly stuff like Sugar & Spike, Archie, Harvey and early Bronze Superman stuff. I'll use if in some decoupage and collage projects over the next few years so I didn't want to pay a lot, and none of the stuff I got was high demand stuff anyways. Like anything else in the market, if it's a key and in demand, it will go for a higher price (even coverless), if it's just fodder issues, it's a bargain sell (with or without covers). -M

Plus it's liberating to read an old comic and not care if you bend it or sneeze on it or something and lose $50 of "value." I haven't done any crafts with them, but have toyed with the idea.
