ANYWAY, trying to finish off Super-Team Family because I have a bunch of 'em for my team-up book collection - although the Solomon Grundy JSA story was water damaged and REALLY smelly - a couple '80s Secret Origins (including an Ambush Bug story I have never read) and Bucky O' Hare because people here like Bucky 'O Hare. Super-Team Family is one of those obscure (to me) titles that I would love to get the whole run of. I don't have any issues of it, but it appeals to me highly.

^ Yes I am very excited to read it. Should be in the mail this week! More purchases...I went on an ebay binge and found some good deals. First, this little beauty. This will leave Annual #2 as the only one of the first four I am missing (after that, I believe they start reprinting Spidey stories, so I am not as gung ho to have those). This lot came with some other Spidey issues that I already have, including a copy of ASM #360 which is somehow worth more because it contains a panel of Carnage before his first full appearance. ibb.co/i83wsxNext, a lot of Spider-Man books that I am pumped for! The issue of ASM with Black Widow in it is what I am most excited for but also the Spider Carnage issue, if not just for the cover. ibb.co/euGXXxA Justice League lot...the reason for this is the two copies of Annual #2, apparently it is very valuable now. I will keep a copy and sell the other. ibb.co/f7jEecFinally, who doesn't love a little mystery? Some of these are newer and will be traded but the Teen Titans and, if you hunt, you will see the edge of a certain issue that makes this lot worth picking up. See if you can spot the book I am referring to ibb.co/cGvgQH

I've been bidding on Detective Comics #347 for a few weeks, trying to see if I can luck out and get a nice mid-range copy for a bargain bid, but NO LUCK! But I went ahead and purchsed a copy that looks pretty nice overall, but the cover isn't attached at the lower staple, so it cost $16.50. So that's the last issue of Detective I need to have every issue from #301 to the present! I also bid on #275, the Zebra-Batman issue, and I'll know if I got that one on a few hours. Probably not. I'm not bidding any higher and I'm sure I will be outbid. Dang, Robin looks so intense on that cover, sweating/crying profusely and all!! These are the covers that forced/enticed people to buy comics in those oh so classic of days! Yep, I shelled out 12 cents for that issue, shortly before I became a Marvel zombie. DC was great at covers, but Marvel had better comics.

I was visiting my Sister in law and stopped at a nearby shop that has 50 cent comics. I bought 20 books, but only these two qualify as classic

Placed a small order with Lonestar to pick up a few recent things that were local sell outs, but added a few classic pieces to the order... Chronicles of Corum 12 (completes series for me) Unknown Worlds of Science Fiction 3, 5 (completes series for me) and the Tempo books paperback collection-Amazing Adventures of Flash Gordon Vol. 1 which collects (and reformats) Flash comic strips, and which gives me all 6 volumes in that series now. -M

That comixology sale allowed me to get the Epic Collection Avengers : the collection obsession...
and MAN! I had forgotten how absolutely awful comics could be in the late 80s and early 90s!
It sure reconciles me with current comics, for all that they play it loose with internal consistency. Ugly art, bad characters (Rage? Ugh), expository and forced dialogue, eye-gouging colours... Brrrrr!
It’s not all bad, though. Half of the book collects a storyline that coursed through several annuals, and apart for some nice art on the Sub-Mariner, it all made me regret my 99 cents. The rest of the book is devoted to The Collection Obsession, which ran in the Avengers around issue 333 or so, and that is MUCH better (with nice early Steve aepting art).

Brrrrr! You are so right ... I didn't read much comics in the late 80's and early 90s because of work and that's the reasons that I've didn't care for the Modern Age that much. Heck, I've returned to comics in the late 90s and early 00s and had limited exposure of them right there. Basically, I'm only interested in reading stuff from 1940 to 1980 and that's it. Anything after that ... not my cup of tea.

I'e been buying a ton of stuff as I've been refocusing my collection. Selling off a lot of stuff I no longer want or need, and using the money to buy... Bronze Age Romance. So many great covers and insane stories. I have a lot coming on the way that looks to be one of the best runs of the Bronze Age, I'll post a photo when they arrive. Still not here! But I did get this in the mail today!

I talked to the owner of my LCS and everytime a book comes out in that timeframe that he's think that I would enjoy ... I've did not pick it up at all and tried my best to enjoy it. I even looked in the Modern Comics Discussion Board and none of them held my interest - Honest. I'm not trying to be negative here ... but, I had a difficult time enjoying comics that came out in the 90's on ...

But I did get this in the mail today! (Sgt. Fury. . . #1) What a great, under-rated Silver Age debut of several key MU characters! Decent looking copy to boot. It's one that I took a few half-hearted stabs at back in the day but, not being a huge fan of war comics, I let it slip away. It's probably better off in the hands of the True Believers. Congrats!

Me too, though I'll admit that I briefly (for about 8 months) started collecting new comics back in 2008, and there were some I enjoyed such as X-Men:First Class and Guardian of the Galaxy, but for the most part, my comic universe ends in the late 80's, and there's so much stuff from the 60's through the 80's for me to read that I don't feel a need to hunt for newer stuff.
