He only wanted $50 for everything. By far the best bargain I have ever had. A part of me felt bad because I know there is a lot more value than that. But he was an older guy and him and his wife just wanted everything gone as they were moving. I didn't get into the back story but it didn't seem like he collected it as he had zero attachment to it. I told him I collected and that these were going into my collection and he seemed happy with that and having one less container full of stuff in his garage.
I feel every collector finds a bargain stash once in their lifetime. I'm counting this as mine.

Yes, our prices are a little insane sometimes, but I don't think $6.96 is too much to ask for a older, still working Sony CD Boombox in an age where production on such things is slowly grinding to a halt
Yeah, I'd feel bad for that older gentleman, but maybe money didn't matter. Maybe he just wanted to give it to somebody who really would have liked it and appreciated it
There are good people out there, you just have to look for them

I don't think money was a big concern as they were in a nice area and moving to a newly built condo. He was happy I was a collector so when he named his price I couldn't say no.

Walked into a charity shop in Glasgow and found these on a shelf. More than happy to grab them as I had just managed to squeeze the car in the only free parking spot within walking distance and had allowed myself to spend the money I would have spent on parking the car elsewhere on a treat for myself. Le bleu et une couler chaude is a wonderful book. Despite the (SPOILER ALERT) the outbreak of dead lesbian syndrome at the end. The Corto Maltese - the first I have read - was a disappointment though, it turns out from all accounts, to be one of the weaker in the series.

This is sort of "classic" pickup.
I bought the new True Believers reprint of the 1990s Wolverine issue 10. Ive always wanted that issue 10 of the old Wolverine series but back issues of the old issue was always expensive

I ordered a beat-up (but not TOO beat-up) copy of Detective Comics #300. I ordered it off eBay and the dealer is House of M Comics in Rotterdam, Netherlands. So it's coming from Europe and I guess that means it will take a few days. This is the amazing story of the Polka-Dot Man! I used to have this about 1975 but it got traded away shortly after. I just didn't appreciate the jack Schiff era when I was a kid. And I didn't know what to make of J'onn J'onzz! This is also the last issue of Aquaman's short run in Detective Comics, which started in #293.

My run of Secret Wars is all original issues, except for issue #8, which was always prohibitively expensive. I got a Marvel Milestones reprint of that particular issue.

In Batman's rogues gallery, he has to be differentiated from "the Fairly Normal Polka Dot-Man" and "the Macabre Polka-Dot Man." Also, if I recall correctly, he's actually known as Mr. Polka Dot in the story.

I've been doing some dealing on side recently - comics, that is - and have picked up a few small collections recently. Nothing amazing in any of them, but I have been able to resell stuff and turn a small profit while keeping all the cool stuff for myself. Last week I bought a couple short boxes, around 300 comics plus 8-10 TPB and a random set of Carl Barks trading cards. Turns out the cards were worth more than I paid for the whole lot. After selling one comic (Silver Surfer #34) and the cards, I've already made a profit, and still have all the other comics to boot. Main reason I bought the collection was 15-20 issues of Archie at Riverdale High, which I am currently collecting, but it also has long, high grade runs of Donald Duck and Uncle Scrooge from the early 90's, including a number of Don Rosa issues. And yesterday I stopped in a comic shop and they were having some kind of sale. There were two long boxes on the floor that had some low grade late bronze age stuff in them. I asked what the price was, and they said $20 per box! So I bought them both. Worked out to around 8 cents per comic. There's some cool stuff in here, even though most of them are pretty beat up - like 15 issues of Brave and the Bold, 15 issues of DC Comics presents, lots of issues of Defenders, New Teen Titans, ROM, House of Mystery, Ghosts, G.I. Joe, Star Wars, Wonder Woman, Justice League of America, Conan, Savage Sword of Conan, etc. I'm still sorting through everything but after taking out all the coolest stuff, I think I can sell all the leftovers on craigslist and hopefully make a hundred bucks or so. Having my cake and eating it too! Comics are fun

Having my cake and eating it too! Comics are fun Don't know if you've ever tried this, but I have all my excess comics entered into the database at mycomicshop.com where I sell them for trade credit. I check it every day to see if any of my books are on their want list, and when I have a decent order built up, I submit it for approval. The comics I have in there are mostly from buying long boxes of dollar bin books from my lcs for $30-50 after I pick out the stuff for my personal collection, and books I have upgraded on. In 2017, I traded in for $2764.00, and I'm at about $1200.00 this year. It's some work, but I've been able to get some great books and made all my money back in early 2017.

The last paragraph in the above post is what I typed in. Sorry. Don't know how I managed that.

The last paragraph in the above post is what I typed in. Sorry. Don't know how I managed that. It's easier to use the quote function on Proboards if you use the BBcode mode rather than preview mode. The tabs for it should be at the top of your reply box after you hit quote, or you can change your settings so BBcode is the default. It eliminates the issue of your additions being inside the quote box when typing. -M
