For the first time in probably a couple of years, I bought a bagged and boarded comic yesterday:
Don't let the sticker fool you--it was in the 2/$1 box. In fact, this flea market was lousy with 2/$1 boxes from at least a half-dozen dealers.

I hope the book has been thoroughly deloused.

My wife had a work training session in Dayton this afternoon, and the training center is right next to a Second and Charles store, so I drove down with her and spent the 3 hours of her training browsing through used books and comics before we went out to dinner. Came home with a bunch of interesting books and some comics, mostly on the cheap. Comics were buy 5 get 5 free though (essentially 50% off the price marked, and no book I bought had a sticker price greater than $5 (most were $1 or less), so all were $2.50 or less. Here was the prize of the haul... and these four, which I haven't seen in the wild in some time and can get a bit pricey (they had issue 11 with a Dave Stevens cover as well, but were asking $15 for it, and I already had a copy, but these 4 were all under $5 (thus $2.50 or less) I also found a handful of Brubaker Catwoman issues and a FCBD sampler I had never seen before featuring some classic strips from the American Library of Comics... and then a mass of other stuff on the cheap... including... Icon 2 Moebius' Airtight Garage: Onyx Overlord 4 Nocturnals 4 Ka-Zar the Savage 32 (1 of 2 I needed to complete the run) Coyote 16 American Gods: Shadow 4, 6 (completes series) The Shield (1983 Red Circle series) 2 Comet ('83 Red Circle) 1 Night Force (1st series) 4 Ghost Rider (90s series) 82 Doc Savage (DC '88 series) 4, 7 Kobalt 1 New Gods 12-15 (Byrne series w/Simonson covers) Manhunter (Ostrander series) 3, 6, 20, 22 The Dreaming 59 Star Trek ('84 DC series) 26, 41 Conan the Avenger 10, 13, 14 Who's Who in the DC Universe 24 The Island (DC anthology magazine) 8 There were still about 10-15 long boxes of stuff I didn't have time to go through, so there may have been treasures I missed. -M

New '70s additions: Detective Comics #477-479, Super-Team Family #12 (Green Lantern & Hawkman), and Superboy & The Legion #221 (just 'cause it was there at a good price and the next issue in the run I didn't have). I used to have the Detective #478 and Superboy & Legion #221 before, so a mix of replacements and new to me. I may never get Detective #475 & 476 looking at the prices, must be the Joker appearance.

My brother went to a yard sale this morning for me. Sadly he knows very little about comics so he can’t scout stuff out as great but I’d say he did pretty good. He called me and I guided him a bit to. Spent a buck a piece on everything seen. I’m most stoked about the Shadow issues as I now have em all!

God it's good to see these in print again! I'd spent ages lamenting the fact that they weren't around anymore and then BAM! I'm in the candy store today and they're back!

They are doing some kind of exhibit on the Bazooka Joe comics at the Billy Ireland Cartoon Museum in Columbus, one of the researchers posted some of his research for the exhibit on the museum's FB page this past week. -M

I got a notice from Lonestar last week that one of the three Madhouse issues done by Gray Morrow had come in stock, so I placed a small order with them to pick up that issue and to make shipping worthwhile added a few books to fill in some holes and complete a few series I had been working on, and grabbed a few books on their weekly dollar book sale as well. The order arrived in my mailbox today while I was at work and just popped it open and sorted through it, snapping a few pics. First the Madhouse issue, #96... I also have been slowly picking up the NBM volumes of Terry and the Pirates, and they had the first volume in stock, so I grabbed that too... in their dollar sale they had a couple of the Gemstone reprints of the classic EC Piracy series, so I snagged those... and a couple issues of the '89 Star Trek series from DC... and then started filling ina few holes or finishing series off, such as... Crossfire & Rainbow #4 and Flash Gordon Zeitgeist #7 both finishing off those respective mini-series... Crusades 15, 18-20 completing that Vertigo series... I picked up First Wave 3 and 5 to finish the series, but they also had the NEal Adams variant for #1 real cheap, so I snagged it too, as well as the first issue of Justice Inc. form Dynamite to complete that mini as well. I picked up the last 2 issues of the Comico Grendel series I needed, plus an issue of the Milestone book Shadow Cabinet off the dollar sale list... and finally, picked up House of Yang #3 (1 of 2 issues I needed form that run, and Mickey Spillane's Mike Danger #8 from Tekno Comics to complete that tun (I still need a couple of issues of the follow up series form Big Entertainment though) of course, this morning, I got an e-mail form Lonestar one of the other Madhouse issues just came in stock, so I may be placing another order, we'll see. I have a couple bids in on stuff in the auction that ends Monday, so if I win something I will be placing an order, so I will wait and see if the Madhouse issue is still in stock as of Monday before I place the order. -M
