Only a small bit of comic related stuff... but check out this haul from my local library book sale: the 1st 5 paperback collections of Heathcliff (which I had a couple of as a kid and haven't seen for AGES) seemingly brand new (not even a single spine crack) paperback of: Good Omens (which I've been dying to re-read since the show) Anno Dracula Daughter of Sherlock Holmes 2 YA books my 18 year old wanted an Archie triple digest DVDS: Looney Tunes 2 disc collection (not sure what's on it, but it's different from the platinum one I have) Full Metal Alchemist's last OVA movie 1st 2 seasons of Hetalia Romeo and Juliet (the Leonardo DiCaprio one) And, a Lionel Hampton CD ... all for $7 I'm very pleased

Which they almost did.

Here are some of my pickups from last week. Nothing expensive or crazy here, but I did some bin digging at my local shops. Josh Byrne's Man of Steel came as a set, and the Action Comics book just grabbed my eye. Haven't had the chance to read these FF books yet, but the covers really caught my interest. Love Blade Runner, and had no idea they made a comic about it, so this was a nice surprise. And this Batgirl is actually the only modern book I have right now, but I just fell in love with the cover. If you look closely at the reflection on the building behind her, you'll see that she is actually upside down and in a free fall. What a cover. And of course, I had to add a few classic Spidey books to the collection.

New comics this week! GI Joe 21 is actually a 2nd print. You can tell by the black Spidey in the corner instead of a white one. The ads are also different. However, the condition to price ratio was just too good to pass up. And I've always heard what a classic book FF 51 was, and it certainly did not disappoint. What a read. I may have gotten a little misty eyed at one point, don't tell anyone. The cover has a few issues and some kid wrote a little pencil on it back in the day, but the pages are all clean and intact. Anyway, I just wanted to read it, and the price was right. Got great deals on some Spidey books. The wedding and honeymoon as well as parts 2 and 3 of the Carnage saga. They did 2 for $20 on the latter pair, but something tells me I won't be quite so fortunate when I try to pick up 361.

Finally landed a white whale that's been on my want list forever, Captain America Comics #66. It's the one where Bucky is gut shot and temporarily replaced by Golden Girl (Betsy Ross), and it's not the Canadian version, and it doesn't have the top of its cover sliced off. Only a 3.5, but this one is super hard to find in any grade so my grading threshold is much lower for pieces like this. I'd all but given up on ever owning a book from this series, let alone this particular issue. Was browsing for something else entirely when it popped up.

Nice. Are you going to free it from the plastic ? LOL, I'd probably slice off a finger in the attempt.

My some recent purchases online & via Ebay. I'm putting together Doom Patrol comics for a binge read. It's all pre-Morrison stuff. I've actually never read his Doom Patrol. Only older DP and fairly recent DP. I'm just a handful of issues from completing a run of Green Lantern from its 1976 revival to its 1988 cancellation. Green Lantern fills one of those slots. As you may know from sporadic posts in the "Read Lately" thread, I'm in the midst of an Incredible Hulk binge read that started with the last few Essential TPBs. I've read through #303 right now. I bought the Incredible Hulk issues to fill in a few gaps so now I can read uninterrupted through the third Hulk Visionaries Peter David TPB. I now have the whole 1980s Strange Tales series and plan to read from start to finish sometime. I already had some of those issues, but there was a cheap Ebay lot that was a good price even with the duplicates.

Nice set of books, Spoon. I haven't seen you in a while , welcome back. Thank you. I'm just not high-volume with my posting, but I do read a lot of people's posts. I've read about 120 issues of Hulk in order over the last few months, but I've only written like 4 or 5 "Read Lately" posts on that.

Some recent buys here First from a yard sale. Nothing crazy but for a buck a piece how can one not walk away with something!? And finally this LB Cole Sports Thrills off eBay. The spine is badly split along bottom but for $5 I wasn’t gonna pass on it

The spine is badly split along bottom but for $5 I wasn’t gonna pass on it Yeah, very nice at that price. I read those two Hulk issues within the past week or two. I have a TPB that reprints them, but I decided to buy #296 individually, because the TPB cuts out all the Rom parts because Marvel no longer has the rights. I'm guessing those Marvel Fanfare issues are parts of one Shanna the She-Devil story.
