Thanks to codystarbuck’s excellent review of the books, I just got the collected “Sailor”s story” graphic novels by Sam Glanzman. Really looking forward to it!

I also highly recommend his USS Stevens stories, which are also collected (and provided some of the anecdotes in the memoir). They have also collected his Hercules, from Charlton, which was some of his most experimental art, as the series went on.

I really feel privileged to have been able to meet and talk with Sam Glanzman a few times at Ithacon.
I was on a FB group that asked if any war comics were as good as the Kurtzman EC ones and I said I thought, taken as a whole, Glanzman's work was every bit as good and maybe better. One guy remarked that Glanzman never drew anything as well as Wood or Davis, and I was going to mix it up with him, but decided I didn't want to get into a pi$$ing match with Howard Chaykin.

These get me closer to complete runs of Dc comics presents and Deathstroke v.1 Do you have any doubles of the later issues of Deathstroke? I probably need 20 books, mostly near the back. I'm pretty sure I have trade bait you would like.

Picked this up on eBay. I'm shutting down anymore purchases for the duration of the pandemic.

One of my last purchases before I applied the brakes would have been a HC that handily collects one of the best eras of Batman comics, the Marshall Rogers 'tec comics from the 70s.
I have about half of the actual comics so getting a compact collection in a nice HC - which I managed to get for $15 or so - is great!

Since my May Convention is cancelled it provides me a few $ already put away for spending. So, sparked from another post about the Comico Jonny Quest series I dug through and figured out which issues I actually had and then ordered the remaining ones I wanted from Lonestar/MyComic shop so i can sit back and read the entire series. I have no remembrance of the why's and wherefore of the missing issues, other than during the time these were coming out I was more sporadic in my tracking and shopping as life's priorities were in the forefront. All issues costing around $2-3.
Jonny Quest 6 Jonny Quest 10 Jonny Quest 11 Jonny Quest 12 Jonny Quest 13 Jonny Quest 16 Jonny Quest 17 Jonny Quest 18 Jonny Quest 19 Jonny Quest 20 Jonny Quest 23 Jonny Quest 24 Jonny Quest 27 Jonny Quest 29
Finished out with a few choice odds and ends of my favorites: war and western comics. Star Spangled War Stories 196 Star Spangled War Stories 187 Unknown Soldier 209 DC Super Stars 15 story with Sgt Rock and Unknown Soldier Kid Colt Outlaw 200 Kid Colt Outlaw 210 Kid Colt Outlaw 215 Kid Colt Outlaw 222 Kid Colt Outlaw 228 Two-Gun Kid 103

My new found fondness for Spirou and Fantasio lead me to look on eBay today. "Spirou" + "Lowest Price P+P". This was the cheapest. I couldn't resist.

Just acquired this little trip down memory lane in the mail today: I began my back issue collection by acquiring multi-packs of Batman comics, including this very one. I'm almost certain this was one of the first two I bought, having spotted them at Toys R Us in 1989. And now it's mine again. The only question is what to do with it. It's too tall to fit in a standard box. Do I frame it?

Put it on its side down the side of the box. Or take it out of the bag, read it and throw the display thing away? (Into the recycling of course.) That's what I would do.

Last couple things I ordered before it all got weird was Captain Marvel Masterworks vol. 5 at a good price, which concludes my run in that title. I also got a Batman #178 and Detective #340, which gets me a couple issues closer to a complete New Look/Bronze age Batman.
At this point, I need like 5 issues of Brave and the Bold, a couple of Batman including the Poison Ivy issue (which I now have a recent reprint). That issue #340 of Detective finished off New Look/Bronze age Detective for me. I guess I have been working on the Batman run for close to 15 years.
