I liked the Gilbert H. comics more than the Jaime parts, but then I love a good soap opera and Beto's/Gilbert's had that touch of Dark Shadows. The first few issues of Love & Rockets were more rockets (and monsters and capes and sound effects) but it got into a two main domestic soaps format after that. I suspect those collected books leave out a lot of the fun short comics like Errata Stigmata, Music For Monsters and Rocky & Fumble, or the super short little filler bits, and focus just on Maggie the mechanic and friends or just Palomar. (...) In the main, that series of collections put together Gilbert/Beto's Palomar stories and Jaime's Locas stories in alternating volumes. There are two of them, though, Amor y Cohetes and Comics Dementia, which collect much of the miscellaneous (i.e., non-Palomar and non-Locas) material from Love & Rockets. Amor y Cohetes is, unfortunately, out of print and used copies are really pricey.

I've always enjoyed Xaime's stories more than the others, probably because I really respond to his art. Nothing beats Beto firing on all cylinders, though some of his stuff, like Speak of the Devil, is incredibly dark. Like tartanphantom, I couldn't get into Strangers in Paradise.

I really dig all of Terry Moore's stuff (I've only read the first third of SiP, but I like Rachel Rising, Echo, etc. as well). I've only read 1 volume of Love & Rockets, and I want to read more, but I find myself sucked into the narratives Moore weaves much more than the Los Bros Hernandez. Once I get going, I don't want to put Moore's stuff down, but I had to read the L&R stuff in smaller chunks. Like them both, but Moore resonates more with me. But again, to each his own.

I was going to take a break from old Detective Comics for a while. But we're all just sitting around in quarantine and sometimes you need something to get through all theses weeks of sitting around. So I went ahead and bid on Detective Comics #277 because it's the only issue I'm missing between Detective Comics #275 and #1020. And I won the bid. $18 for a 1960 comic listed as G/VG. I don't know what's happening on the cover and I'm not sure Jack Schiff did either.

The shape of that third creature looks oddly like a map of the United States.

It used to take weeks for a Mile High order to reach the UK, but when I place an order with MyComicShop they say it might take 3-4 weeks, but my order always arrives in about a week and a half. Of course, as of now, I'm unemployed, thanks to the coronavirus pandemic. So I won't be buying any new comics for quite a while. The only thing you're missing are horrible shipping times: - MCS: 25 days and it still hasn't even crossed the pond.
- MH: 20 days and it still hasn't even shipped.
I'm keeping to mainland Europe for the moment. I still do UK, but no more Silver Acre in a while, the last two orders took a full week to ship. Lone Star: ordered on March 29, still unknown, last update from 4 weeks ago located it still in the US. Mile High: took three weeks to ship, but since the 24th it has made nice progress and is already in the UK. Silver Acre: all three orders arrived, a fourth one has been placed to finish the shopping spree (30 American comics + 1 European comic + 2 comic supplies = 33 orders).

Yeah, everything's just moving slower now (like Confessor, I've found that under normal circumstances, packages from Lonestar usually arrive inside of 2 weeks). As I noted upthread when talking about those L&R books: I ordered them from vendors in the UK, and usually the shipping time from the UK to Croatia, where I live, is about a week and half to two weeks. This time, it was almost a month and half before they arrived (one other book I ordered at the same time arrived after 3 weeks).
Otherwise, I don't know about now, but the few times I've ordered something from somewhere in mainland Europe, like Germany or France, I haven't noticed that it arrived appreciably sooner than packages from the UK (or Ireland, for that matter).

It's a puzzle. I placed all of my 33 orders when the confinement measures were already being enforced, and yet, there's a stark contrast between the end of March/early April, and the past few weeks.
At the beginning:
- Mainland Spain: less than a week.
- Canarias: one week. - Germany: 1-2 weeks (closer to one). - UK: 1-2 weeks (closer to two). - US: 2-3 weeks.
Lately:
- Mainland Spain: 2 weeks and counting. - UK: 2 weeks and counting (two for the ones shipping trough eBay's global program).
- US: over a month and counting (NY already showed collapsing problems by March 25, haven't heard from that one yet).

I can't speak for everyone in the UK but I have seriously been limiting the amount of time I'm out of the house. This means that I only get to the Post Office once a week - on a Saturday morning when I'm picking up stuff for vulnerable neighbours and other chores. Anything I sell on eBay on a Saturday afternoon will have to wait a whole week before it gets posted.

That can certainly add to the problem,in some given cases, but the bulk of the delay is just because of the Postal service/customs taking its sweet time doing their job.

I was talking to my postman the other day - at a respectful distance. He said it's probably not a good time to be sending anything delicate through the post. They're all standing a lot further apart in the sorting offices - which means things are having to get thrown further too.

Only one of my packages hasn't arrived yet over the past month...it's a postage stamp that's been very nicely used and it's difficult to get a high-value denomination that's been used so nicely.....so it will be a bummer if it goes astray. I did get my $25.50 USA Express Stamps though...
My Dallas 2012 DVDs arrived within 3 days of ordering them....gotta love those who are soldiering on as hard as they can.
So you're a philatelist too? I actively collected stamps from the age of 6 (1969) until around 1993. Still have my stamp collection, but in the end, comics, record albums and guitars won out in the collecting arena. And although I have other collections (firearms, antique straight razors, stereoscope cards, dvd/blu-ray, railroadiana, tobacciana, vintage bar ware, etc.), they usually lie dormant until something sparks my interest. Too many collections, too little time... these days it's mainly comics and musical instruments.
Sorry for the de-rail-- I actually came here to post that I empathize with our members across the pond regarding delivery woes from USA sellers at the moment. I placed an order with MCS/Lone Star last night, and got the shipping confirmation and tracking number around 2pm today. I've also had other domestic (USA) comics shipments within the last 30 days that didn't see any real delay either. I'm sure that the international delays are likely due to reduced commercial shipping traffic combined with extra delays in customs.
Still, it's strange that some of you have been waiting over 25 days for the package to even leave US shores. That sounds like a logistics priority issue with the sellers.
