Original Concept of Spiderman Jack Kirby StyleThis is what Jack Kirby had in mind for the Original Concept of SPIDERMAN; however Stan Lee wanted something else and Jack tried his best to pitch this concept but couldn't do so. I was thrilled to get this from a dear friend of mine and he will try his best to get me more of these art for me to share here. This one is interesting because IMO this Spiderman would have failed. I don't believe it would ever have achieved the greatness of the Spider-man we know and love today. This concept eventually became The Fly, which was published by Archie publications and lasted 39 issues. Kirby drew issues #1 and #2. IIRC, Joe Simon had a hand in the first unused Spidey as well. Yes, the traditional design is much better. Notice also the web gun. Kirby originally had wanted the webs to come out of Peter's wrists or something, and Stan wisely put the kebosh on that.

Couple of Jack Kirby's Work involving The Mighty ThorMighty Thor verses LokiMy dear friend - who is closing his store forever gave me these two remaining Jack Kirby's pictures at 50% off. This one Thor battling his nemesis - Loki. Mighty Thor and Asgard This is unbelievable art by Jack Kirby here and I got this along with Mighty Thor and Loki print that you see on top of my post here. It's was 50% off as well and this is an amazing picture and I was in awe getting it last week when he stopped by and gave them to me. He will go through his collection at home and probably wants to give some additional Jack Kirby art as well. He said that I should be getting another 15-20 more pictures from him and give me some tips on getting more in the future. Both of these around 11 x 17.

These are great, Mecha. Pretty sure I've never seen the 2nd one with the Bifröst leading to Asgard. Wait, is that the Shining Knight?

I haven't had time to look over this entire thread, but I was wondering if any of you have read his Silver Star, and if so, I wanted opinions on it. Obviously, the art will be great, but I was looking for opinions on the story. Is it good? Is it one of his stronger or weaker works?

Obviously, the art will be great, but I was looking for opinions on the story. Is it good? Is it one of his stronger or weaker works? Silver Star is a lot of fun. While the storyline isn't anything groundbreaking, with a few plot holes even, it's still very entertaining. Silver Star was a concept that Kirby initially began as a movie screenplay in the 70's. Kirby throws a few curveballs into the story, with some events that you wouldn't expect. Obviously the artwork is the main draw, or at least it was for me. A lot of people were confused by the ending. But the last speech balloon in the series is just another classic thought-inducing Kirby quote (spoiler tags in case you don't want to know): He can survive the "Bomb" but, like all men...can he survive himself?? A few awesome Silver Star splash pages:

I haven't read it in 30 or so years but remember liking it. BTW, TwoMorrows, who publish the excellent Jack Kirby Collector, also offer Silver Star in a special Graphite edition, which I think is shot directly from Kirby's uninked pages IIRC.

I don't know if it's the graphite edition? Does it state that on the book? Or if you order the hardcover is it automatically the graphite edition? Sorry, I don't know these things.

You'd have to ask for it. I don't have the Graphite edition but plan to with my next order.
