I'll never understand how so many readers find Kirby's female characters uniformly unattractive: the title character of "The Maid" is a beautiful creation, just one of several in the sample pages from that new book.

From Headline Comics #37 (September 1949, Prize Publications), which includes a photo of Joe Simon (dressed as a cop) and Jack Kirby (dressed as a crook).

Not as aesthetically pleasing as Ditko's "other-dimensional" scenes in Dr. Strange but pretty inventive nonetheless. I like how the protagonist himself different in shape from panel to panel, that was a neat idea.

I can definitely understand if others feel that Kirby drew fourth dimensional stories more interestingly with Marvel, like in Fantastic Four #51 (June, 1966):

No doubt about it, the FF stuff is great. I imagine there might have been similar scenes in Thor though I can't recall anything specific off the top of my head.

No doubt about it, the FF stuff is great. I imagine there might have been similar scenes in Thor though I can't recall anything specific off the top of my head. Here are a couple; I think they are from the Colonizers of Rigel story in Thor 131-33, but I could be wrong.

They are from 162 and 161. At least he didn't give anything Colletta could erase.

I didn't realize he was already doing photo collages in Thor before he did them in New Gods.

His surface of Ego the Living Planet from Thor 133 One of only four Kirby Thors I managed to get, really loved that issue. The earliest Kirby with photo background I remember was the FF #33 cover...

I didn't realize he was already doing photo collages in Thor before he did them in New Gods. I think he started using them in the FF. Here are a couple of quite a few examples. (The page is from #29.) Both are from 1964.
