Bah! Kirby probably got John Romita Sr. to do the Scarlet Witch's face for him! You say that like it's a good thing. ;-) Ha! Well, isn't it? Don't tell me you're not a fan of John "Ring-a-Ding" Romita. Holy Mackerel, say it ain't so!

Rare Fantastic Four Pin Up Art done by KirbyNot for sale - sorry everyone! Wow! '62. Did these appear in an early issue of FF? If so, which one? #4 and #6 are my only single-digit FFs and I don't recall these. Interesting that (human) Ben seems to resemble Broderick Crawford, while Johhny looks a bit like Don Knotts. Those lips!
ETA: Ah, reading helps! So these appear in four separate issues. Presumably, Reed and Sue's pin-ups date no earlier than FF #3, owing to the Fantasti-Car and the uniforms. Ben and Johnny however, I can't place. I brought these for fun but I can find out in a week or two and I will send you a PM when I do find out ... I just can't remember it. Sorry

Not that I'm not not a fan (grammar police report to this post) but I'd have the same thing to say about both Romitas as I do about Kirby concerning women's faces. Though thinking about it since the subject came up I will defiantly give alcolades to both Kirby and the Romitas for making athletic built women as oppose to the artists I initially was exposed to starting reading in the 90s like J Scott Campbell, Turner, Finch, even Liefield. At least Kirby and the Romitas' gal look like they could actually go through the ringer the writers put them through. And like Kirby they are superb at monsters. I think it was Jr that did the Thor Vol 2 story with Thanos and Mangog teaming up. His Thanos is right up there with Starlin and Lim as my all time favorites. Edit: Also one of my favorite covers of all time is a Kirby Thor cover with Mangog on it. I'll have to look the issue number up when I'm at home. Thor #157

I'm a huge fan of Crystal, or the one from the Kirby/Lee days, but I've never liked that particular picture of the character - the smile, which I assume was meant to look sweet and endearing, looks like it was stamped onto her face. Also not a fan of the all-yellow costume. Agree about the Medusa picture. I think later artists forget that Madame Medusa was originally this provocatively sexy, mature woman who drove young Johnny to distraction for awhile, IIRC. Which, come to think of it, makes it a bit off-putting that he ended up falling for her younger sister. Gene Colan won as the best Medusa artist for me in Marvel Super Heroes #15. Spectacular cover and interior art. That's a man that's knows a sexy gal with long red hair. Hells yes! :-)

I have since managed to find a copy but haven't read it yet. Of course Colan is also known for drawing a very attractive Black Widow, among other characters. Getting back to Kirby, I think he drew some very attractive faces but haven't been able to find the specific images I'm thinking of yet.

While I was looking for that Mangog cover I was talking about earlier, I kept looking through the Lee & Kirby Thor issues I do have and came across a good Hela of Kirby's. But she does wear a half face mask, but still a good Kirby lady none the less.

Woah, hang on just one cotton picking minute there, pardner! Are you trying to tell me that you think that Romita Sr's females aren't anymore comely than Kirby's? Romita draws absolutely beautiful women, particularly their faces. I mean, I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all, but do you mean to tell me that this... ...is just as comely than this...

Okay, you got me on that one Confessor. That's a dang good sketch. I maybe remembering JRJR's work more so than Sr's, as he was doing a lot in the 90's and 00's with Amazing Spiderman, Peter Parker: Spiderman, Thor, Daredevil and Uncanny. All of which I was reading all of or at some point as they were coming out. And all of which I enjoyed for the most part. Thor is what comes to mind the most in this aspect, but that might have to do with Klaus Jansen's inks too, as I don't recall the inkers on the other JRJR titles. So I may have to concede putting my foot in my mouth. :-)
Is that a sketch you own? I'm gonna guess it's MJ. Would I be right??
