Like the chorus of other members, I'm sorry to hear this Kurt.
I too have back problems and at least somewhat understand.
I've had two back surgeries : a double fusion and a triple fusion.
Take care of yourself the best you can.
One word of advice : The best relief I've found is an infra-red heating pad I sometimes use in bed.
Looking forward to your history of westerns. Will it be through TwoMorrows as well ?

I knew that Jim Owsley aka Christopher Priest had written the color title towards the end, and he's a good writer, but am surprised to hear you say his run is "surprisingly good" because I probably would never have considered it.
Good to know.
Thanks RR

Hawkman # 8 by Robert Venditti and Bryan Hitch
This issue has Carter going to Krypton and meeting his counterpart.
Showcasing the beauty and grandeur of the majestic planet and her fate and a realization.
The final page reminds me of Venditti's previous run on Valiant's excellent X-O Manowar; that's a good thing.
One of the few new comics I'm buying now, my favorite.

Actually Foxley won with that cover, in the April Showers contest 3/29/17 - 4/4/17 that Prince Hal created.
It just shows what a great cover it is that it's won twice now, like that snowy Bat Lash cover # 2 by Nick Cardy.

Yes, congrats Rob !
I think that cover has won before, just showing how extra special it is.

Yeah that too was really good.
As long as we're bringing up recently canceled / suspended titles, I desperately want Bedlam back, but Nick Spencer's at Marvel now, so I doubt it'll happen in the near future.

I'm long overdue in posting this, and anyone who knows me knows this already, but I have to get this off my chest :
Western Iowa is very conservative, and yet, me and my family are left-leaning / liberals / progressives / what have you.
None of us wants to be associated in any way, shape or form with Steve King.
A couple of years ago I was at mass visiting my parents and my eyes about popped out of my head when I saw Steve King there.
After doing a double-take I confirmed it really was him.
His wife is from my home town so there ya go.
I was at the back of the church and he took communion (!) and was circling back to his pew.
You cannot imagine the willpower I had to muster (Hal Jordan level) to not bump him, say something to him, etc, but I didn't do anything.
Every time he's on tv my family and I have been embarrassed for years by him.
Not everyone is an ignorant hick hayseed white supremacist racist from the hills... but he sure is.
It's even more embarrassing when he constantly gets re-elected, though this last election he barely won by 3 points.
Though long overdue, I'm glad the Republicans have finally stepped in to say enough is enough.

bert
This was almost my pick for the contest.
So many great Cap covers for such a unique character.

Kesel & Grummett - what a team !
If you haven't read their Superboy run, it was fantastic.
Yes, very glad that Section Zero is coming back.
Series come and go but I truly thought this should come back.
Bravo !

Really enjoyed Part 1 of the Star Wars set.
Couldn't believe SW was turned down by both DC and Warren !
Sure it was before the movie hit the screens, but still, and when you look at what DC was putting out at the time, it was pretty weak IMO.

I've been reading it.
Not great but decent.
Slowed by Gary Frank's art.
He put the Hulk out monthly years ago. Don't understand why he can't maintain now unless he's just putting that much more effort into it.
