I can't say that I dislike the '05 and '07 movies. I mean they're not good, but at least they're recognizable as the FF. I'd rather see a movie that tries and fails than one that looks like it's embarrassed by the stories and characters that it's adapting.

I enjoyed it, but I thought the theatrical cut was too slow in the middle. The restored and lengthened action pieces in the director's cut helped a lot.

I think we shop at the same place. That's the batch of books my DD #2 came from. Checking your profile, I'd assume you're right. Phantom, in Monroeville? That's the place.

So this just happened. Nice purchase, man. Looks a little beat up, but that wouldn't bother me one jot. That's a well loved comic that has given some young kid (or potentially a number of kids) a lot of entertainment in its lifetime. I'd love to have that in my collection. The spine is kinda beat, but both covers are complete and the interior pages are in nice shape. I actually passed on it when the guy at store showed it to me, but ended up going back that evening to get it.

When I made my weekly trip to the LCS today, one of the guys who works there told me he had something cool to show me. The owner had picked up a collection on one of the previous weekends and they had just put out in the case; most of them are in really nice condition, and the rest are in nice condition: Captain America #100 (already own it in floppie) Daredevil #2 Incredible Hulk #102 X-Men #10 (already own it in floppie) Doctor Strange #169 (first DS "solo" issue, continuing the numbering from Strange Tales) Tales of Suspense #46 (first Crimson Dynamo) Silver Surfer #1 (they also have a #3 and #4 that they were still processing and grading) And the book that made me drool and almost made me cancel my plans to go to Cincinnati in September for the Comic Expo: Iron Man #1. Even though it's in really nice shape, buying this would eat up almost my entire comics budget for the rest of the year and would scuttle the aforementioned trip to Ohio, so I am going to pass...for now. I think we shop at the same place. That's the batch of books my DD #2 came from.

I'm not a huge fan of the character, but I have faith that Marvel and Netflix will pull this off.

I picked up a Daredevil 170 last night, but I set it down on a table and some German guy wrote his name all over it.

If you live in or near northwestern PA, the Erie Art Museum is running an exhibition called "Art of the Comic Book: Original Works from Klaus Janson, John Totleben, and the Museum's Collection." Their work is breathtaking in person and they also have works by Al Williamson, Jack Kirby, and others on display. erieartmuseum.org/exhibits/exhibits2015/ArtOfTheComic/ArtOfTheComic.html

My reasoning behind placing Mandarin in my bottom 5 was Marvel's backpedaling with the character. If you're going to go with that big of a twist, commit to it.

And while I'm at it... Bottom 5 Marvel Studios Villains 5. Ultron 4. Justin Hammer 3. Mandarin 2. Red Skull 1. Malekith Was Malekith not portrayed well it whatever movie he was in? Just curious. I've always enjoyed Malekith in the Thor comics he's been in. He was a character in the strictest sense that he appeared in the movie, had a name, and said some lines. I honestly can't remember what he was trying to do or why. Any generic villain could have been put in his place and served the same function as Malekith did.
