Generally when I'm looking for something in particular, I'll use Mycomicshop as a baseline, and see if I can do better on ebay. I most often by lots that are cheap reader copies, or sometimes a make my own lots if someone has a single comic I want for a good deal so the shipping isn't ridiculous
My last purchase was a couple weeks ago I got Iron Man #14 and # 47 for about $40. I'm not a grader, but I suspect that was about 1/3 less than I would have paid at mycomicshop.
Every now and then I'll put in an order with mycomicshop, midtown, westfield, or even mile high if there's a synergy of a sale and stuff I want.

It wasn't bad if you don't think about it to much, but it doesn't really hold up at all if you stop and think about what's going on at all.

I believe there was at least one other member and possibly a few more that were in the process of reading some of the Cinebook titles (Thorgal, Valerian etc.) via Hoopla. When I went to use up the last of my monthly borrows tonight, the Cinebook material was no longer available on our Hoopla, and I am curious if it is just that our local library's subscription no longer includes that content, or if Hoopla is no longer carrying Cinebook material for whatever reason (I know they pay for the rights to carry material and the contract with Cinebook may have expired and not been renewed for any number of reasons). I know publishers often remove some content for various reasons periodically, and some publishers have ended their relationship with Hoopla before, but I am trying to figure out if this is a local library issue or a Hoopla in general issue. If you have Hoopla and se it, let me know if the Cinebook content is still available to you. -M Interesting.. so my local library got hoopla not too long ago, and when I was at book club last week the librarian I'm friends with said even though ti costs them money, that they'd like is to swap our hoopla over.. previous I had an 'associate' card with the Boston public library to use it. To my dismay, cinebook was no longer available.. I still had the last Thorgal I read checked out, so I could see it there, but clicking on it got an error. I checked with the library, and my librarian said there are some publishers that cost extra, so it may be Cinebook is one of those and they didn't decide to pay the extra.. she's still looking into it. I haven't got the chance to call the Boston library and reset my password to see what happens if I swap it back yet.

I read Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty today (that's the Steve Rogers one)... I thought it was decent, if a bit hokey... definitely reminicient of the 80s Cap where he tried to have a 'normal life'.. complete with non-superhero supporting cast. Not a bad story, but the idea of yet another secret organization running the world that no one has ever heard of is ridiuculous. Also, PEGGY Carter was in the book... when did that happy? Is she from another universe or something? It was a pretty minor bit in the story, but jarring.
The other thing that always annoys me is, why is Steve Rogers so adamant about not killing... he FOUGHT IN WW II. This makes no sense to me.

I don't pay too much attention to the HAll of Fame, not since it was clear wrestling didn't matter, but not too many of the WWE era stars are in yet, are they? Rock, Cena, Austin, Mick Foley That's a damn fine class right there Looks like they already announced Batista Funnily enough, Edge is already a hall of famer HHH actually isn't in himself, just as part of DX,which is weird on a number of levels..obviously they wouldn't do the New Age Outlaws with Billy being active in AEW

It would be surreal to see Cody Rhodes taking the belt from Reigns. I do feel, like you, that we should allow another wrestler to carry a world title. Speaking of surreal, there have been moments in wrestling like that. For me, Hogan turning heel was surreal. Seeing Bret Hart wrestle on a WCW card for the first time was surreal. Vince McMahon hugging Eric Bischoff was surreal. Hogan facing the Rock was surreal (months before, a WWF publication had featured Hogan/Rock as a “Fantasy Warfare” bout). As far as title losses go, seeing Warrior lose the WWF World Championship to Sgt. Slaughter was a surreal moment for me. I never imagined Sarge would win a world title, or that he’d be the one to dethrone Warrior. So, whoever dethrones Reigns, it’ll be a surreal moment for me. I will be shocked if it's not Cody.. he didn't leave AEW without that promise, I'm sure.

Yeah, they made it clear later... that's correct. I didn't see anything about Watergate, but that definitely fits, might have been something in the background I missed.

Superman #1Written by Joshua Williamson Art by Jamal Campbell Summary: Backed against the wall by old enemies and new threats the Man of Steel finds a new ally in...Lex Luthor and the Super-Corporation!? Plot: After disappointing me with the end of his Robin series and the terrible event Dark Crisis I was a little worried that Williamson was taking over Superman, but with this new number one has proven to be a return to form. New starts can be tricky business, balancing the expectations of long term fans while attempting to attract new readers but with this new start I really think Williamson did a fantastic job threading the needle here. To start with he gave us nostalgic throw downs with two classic rogues ( Live Wire and Parasite), on top of that he gave the supporting cast of Lois, Jimmy and the Kents some solid screen time while throwing in a new twist with long time arch foe Lex Luthor. Sure, we've seen a heroic Lex Luthor in the past but a Lex who actively wants to team up with Superman and make him a more efficient hero because he needs Superman in top form to defeat a new mysterious evil is a fun twist that I'm really interested to see play out more. Williamson has let me down before so I'm still a little wary but this was a pretty perfect start. Art:Campbell’s artwork is a major highlight here. His characters and environments both have an energetic quality that really evokes the excellent look of Superman the Animated series while still having a realistic look which is a really fun play on my nostalgia. Grade:9/10 That's interesting, but based on what's going on in Action makes very little sense... I wonder if that's on purpose, or it'll tie in eventually, or if no one else cares?

So I decided to read Watchmen again after the chat. I had a couple questions about the first issue... I don't remember Moore going much real history... does he? The cops refer to 'Vice-President Ford' in the book set in 1985, so did Ford never become President? I remember DKR doing something like that (wasn't either Nixon or Reagan like a dictator for life there?) Or am I getting stuff confused?
I do think its funny the Rorschach acts far more like todays Batman than the Batman analogue does.

In a Garden Burning Gold by Rory Power
I ended up reading this through our library's 'Blind Date with a Book' event they do every year... they take a bunch of books and wrap them, then list the general genre of the book and a quote from in on the outside. Last year, I ended up with an 'ex' (I had already read the book I picked), but not so this time. This book was labeled 'Mythology' and 'Folklore', I can't recall the quote, but it was interesting enough for me to grab it.
Rather than Mythology, though, it's really more a pale imitation of Game of Thrones. Yes, the rules have some powers, but they are more ritual than of any practical use. The story seems like it's going to use multiple points of view, but really there are just two.. the two main characters (who are twins).
Both of them have their own political finagling going on, both against their father for good reasons, and unknowlingly against each other. The sister, Rhea, has the power over the seasons, she gets married every season and kills her consort to change them. Yet somehow people still volunteer (for the promise of a good harvest, I guess? it's not clear) and Rhea is still somehow not either an evil monster or completely devoid of feeling, which one would expect after killing a spouse every 3 months for a hundred years.. as the 'powers' they have also make them immortal, at least until someone kills them (which seems to happen often).
The brother, Lexos, puts the constellations in the sky and sets the tides in motion, and is the 'second' to their father... he does a variety of things to help the family hold on to power with varying degrees of success.
Then at the end a whole lot of random stuff happens out of the blue, yet everyone else seems to have prepared for it except our point of view characters.
A good attempt, but just far too much time on descriptions and inner monologues and not enough time establishing more of the world we're suppose to care about.

Read some Marvel stuff:
Iron Man has been decent so far... I like the bit of corporate intrigue, but I'm not clear on why Tony is rocking a mullet and an 80s suit.. it's fun, but why? I feel like this story should take place sometime between Armor Wars and Armor Wars II, not now.. I'll take it though.
Moon Knight continues to be good.. and they tied it in to the 90s series, which was neat. I absolutely LOVED the back up story with Blade, very cool.
Monica Rambeau is interesting, but I would have rather seen something other than multiversal nonsense... and why does everyone love the Beyonder again all the sudden?
Legion of X Had a bit of a disappointing conclusion.. I wish Si Spurrier could just write without having to worry about the X-crossover nonsense.
Nightcrawlers Somehow sucked me in even though I try to avoid the events, it DOES kinda follow Spurrier's stuff. I do kinda love Banshee as the 'Spirit of Variance'

Finish vol. 2 of Rise and Fall of the Trigan Empire tonight. The art and energy is still great, but it seems there are only a couple different plots that they cycle through:
1) some other kingdon/empire stumbles upon the main character and traps them, only to be converted in the end.
2)some scientist/person in the empire comes up with some fabulous new thing and takes over, only to be foiled later
3) Trigo tries to retire, bad guys take over, and he has to come back and save the day
4) Some threat from outer space happens and comes within a whisker of taking over, only to be defeated at the last moment.
Each story happened, maybe 3 times, in this volume, with slight variations. On, and then they did Pompeii and the Volcano exploding in one too. Not sure I'll got hunting for the other 2 volumes, but I might read them if I found them cheaply/free somewhere.

Wow, I mostly think of Al Milgrom as an editor and an inker, but those are some impressive pencils!

I'd say Bishop 'made' it as a character, he's had a couple minis... he was a big part of the Hope Summers story (he was a villain there, but it happens) and he has a new title 'Bishop: War College' coming out. I had 100% forgotten about Silver Claw! I think she was in the first Ms. Marvel series briefly? yes, indeed... wikipedia agrees with me.
