The Untold Legend of Captain Marvel reads more like an Adam Strange story.
That's not a bad thing in my estimation. I've always wanted more of the green suited Mar-vell and his less cosmic adventures.

Very sad to hear about this.
I would always click in when his name popped up on a thread.
Very knowledgeable, insightful and upbeat about comics and the like.
He will be missed.

Can't find a screen grab but in a Mystery Science Theater 3000 episode the bots are reading,IIRC, Uncanny X-Men and Amethyst. There was also a time Mike was returning Crow's "Mole Man" comics. It was a stack of about 100 books but you couldn't see the covers.

I always had Jack C Harris pegged as a older Atomic Age writer picking up jobs in the 70's. Turns out he was born in 1947.
I was probably confusing him with Jack Abel.

This Marvel company might be on to something. I'm kind of a maniac for Marvel. I should write them a letter and tell them that.

One of the fun things about Jim Mooney is his bibliography. He worked on nearly every Marvel character in the 60's and 70's and it's always interesting to see his work pop up in so many different titles, if only for an issue or two.

Is D from Adventure Comics? No, but C might be from the Black orchid logo, on issues 428-430 of Adventure Comics..... I was thinking of the Adventure Comics logo around the time of the digests.

The first issue I bought of Avengers after I started collecting comics: I probably bought this because Spider-Man was in it. I LOVED this version of the team, but always felt that Starfox was way out of place, and they needed a Male Powerhouse to offset She-Hulk being the only reason he was there. (this would have been a better team if Thor had been on it instead. or better yet, Vision.. tho I think Byrne had dis-assembled him at this point over in WCA, right?) This was well before Byrne's WCA. I believe Vision was out of action at this point after a battle with Annihilus but before his dealings with ISAAC. Not sure about Thor but the list of heroes available to the Avengers seemed quite thin at that point.

I've always seen the Overstreet Guide as a "bathroom book". That's a good thing not a slight. Just something to randomly leaf thru like a throwaway magazine.
That said, I haven't seen a guide in about 20 years....
I should probably see a doctor. 😉

Got to figure that Byrne is pretty bitter that all these guys that surrounded him had all these huge success in film (Starlin, Miller, Mignola). What would it be his most "famous" original creation? Next-Men perhaps? Babe? (never read it). I would think Alpha Flight would be his most well known.

I like both of them but Byrne pips the post due to his work on several underrated series like Namor,X Men:The Hidden Years and The Lost Generation.
They both lose points for their work on The New Gods.

What’s the earliest reprinted versions of FF 48-50? 48 is likely out of my range. I have 49 but kind of want to grade it. And 50 while I might get around to buying is also one I’d just like to have in some form. I like getting the “first reprints” or earliest reprints possible for bigger books. So whether is some treasury or whatever let me know if ya know! Thanks! Pretty sure it is Marvel's Greatest Comics # 35 -37.
