What are some good Juggernaut stories? I've always loved the character's look, and I'm already planning to read his first appearance and the story from Stern's ASM. But I've never really gotten into the mutant side of Marvel, so other than those two I'm at a loss Thor Vol. 1 411-412 is a pretty good story but a bit expensive because it's the first appearance of the New Warriors.

Was looking at the "creators who transformed a series"thread and Alan Moore was cited, quite rightfully, numerous times.
It's made me ponder this question...What was Alan Moore's most original character?

IMO Byrne's last great run was on his 1990 Namor series. The only thing after that series that was good was his Batman/Capt America one shot. I loved that Namor series and I thought his art on Marvel:The Lost Generation was pretty great too.

It was just released this week, so I'm not sure how tied in it is with WCA (if at all). I do remember Avengers from both squads being involved in Emperor Doom. I have a feeling they needed a place in the epic collections to put the story and it worked out length wise and era wise. Several of the Marvel Graphic Novels have shown up in past epic collections. It seems strange to include the graphic novel in preference to Englehart's last two issues, WCA Annual #3 & #39. Yep. I think it would have fit better in the first volume with the original Englehart and Hall mini series but they stuffed that to the gills with a couple of Vision/Scarlet Witch stories and the Wonder Man one shot.

Seems like it was released at the same time as the stories in WCA were out but it might have been written a couple of years earlier. Starfox certainly wasn't in The Avengers by 1987.

On the off chance, I tried Newkadia to see what their price is. But most of the time I find that Lone Star has the best prices. Not so in this case. Lone Star is selling a VF copy for $30-40 (depending on the level of VF). Newkadia had what they are grading as a NM- for $13.67. I haven't shopped there a lot in the past due to their seemingly higher prices but I have had absolutly no issues with their grading competence, so I am confident it is in good condition. So I ordered it; $18.92 with shipping charges. I feel like I got a steal here lol That said, I have another question .... are the issues in that Epic Collection tied into the Emperor Doom GN? It was just released this week, so I'm not sure how tied in it is with WCA (if at all). I do remember Avengers from both squads being involved in Emperor Doom. I have a feeling they needed a place in the epic collections to put the story and it worked out length wise and era wise. Several of the Marvel Graphic Novels have shown up in past epic collections.

Was the Emperor Doom Marvel GN ever reprinted elsewhere? I've been looking at my Lone Star wish list to make an order soon, and it's one of the few GN that are priced above what I am willing to pay (at least at the moment) that I am interested to read. The New Mutants GN is super high, but I am less inclined to read it, or save it for last as I try to complete this series. Good timing as the latest West Coast Avengers Epic Collection has it reprinted in full. Its WCA Vol. 3 "Tales to Astonish"

Bendis run on Superman and Action is coming to an end in December. December also seeks the first work by Mark Waid for DC in a number of years, as he is doing a story in the Dark Nights Metal Lost Tales of the DC Universe anthology one shot published that month. A lot of people are trying to add these tow together to come up with Waid finally getting to write the Superman monthly starting the following month since Didio and Harras are both gone from DC, but that part is just wild rumor mongering at this point. Meanwhile, Kurt Busiek is returning to do some Marvel work, with a story in the giant sized Spider-Man #850 and doing a Namor mini series that is a spin-off of the Black King event that focuses on modern Namor telling a tale from his teen-age years in the 1930s that explains the origins of some of the Atlantean villains in that event, so is essentially a lost tale form Namor's teen years set in the 30s. -M Not too bothered about the DC news... Busiek writing Namor? A thousand times yes!

I've jumped in and out fandom so often I couldn't really tell what were dark ages and what were my personal blind spots. Looking back at the industry from 1994 to 97, It doesn't seem to be as much a dark age as a convoluted mess. I've tried digging in to several different styles and find them all lacking for one reason or another. Poor writing on some, poor art on others, many times both. There were loads of bad editorial choices or none at all and more inflated and bruised egos than you could shake a stick at. That said...I do love Madman

Was there ever an explanation of how Sunfire flew?
Or any of his powers, come to think of it.
Thermal updraft bafflegab?

Anytime I see his name in the credits at the front of a book I know I'm in for an interesting and thought provoking story.
One of the greats.
