Yeah, I just don't get why Deadpool is popular to the point of 5 or more issues a month.

Rick Jones (...ducks and waits for grenades from Silver Age apologists for Mr. Jones) Im no fan of Jones, but more so than some obscure villian or hereo with "lame" powers I'd agree with a character that's had a large exposure but continues to disappoint as the worst character. The more chances they get to entertain and fail is far worst than a once appearing character who disappointed. And Deadpool is awesome. And least through Agent X. I haven't read anything more recent than that. Oh and he's funny as hell on Ultimate Spiderman cartoon.

The Punisher Much as I believe Garth Ennis redeemed the character, I had the chance to speak with Gerry Conway at length during a panel about the Punisher last year and got the distinct impression that he didn't really like the character either.

Carnage. ANOTHER thing I liked about Bendis' Avengers. He did the right thing and killed Carnage. Carnage died? Because he was front and center in the last event... pretty sure it was still Cletus Cassidy, too. You should know better than thinking someone Bendis kills would stay dead more than a year I think Arm Fall Off boy is bad on purpose, so that doesn't qualify . I was more thinking about characters that are so bad that they are universally disliked/panned/etc. and never seen again I kinda like Calendar Man. Totally agree Mantis was super annoying, but considering Englehart took her to various publishers and wrote about her over many, many, years, SOMEONE must like her.

Purple Girl. I'd agree with you until Waid made 'purple people' interesting. You should check out the last couple issues of the current Daredevil. I think that's more a case where the POWER is broken, not the character.

I don't know if there's any character in comicdom that is universally panned. Even Ben Reilly has fans. But as for characters that, quite simply, no one cares about, how about Rob Liefeld's Feral: While most of the completely unoriginal characters he shoved into the final issues of New Mutants in order to earn some royalties were pretty forgettable, Feral strikes me as having been the most thoroughly useless, especially since the New Mutants already had a half-wolf girl.

I cannot stand her even when they try to make her better by simply ignoring what she did and then they tried to build the character up and make her "caring". Screw that. She's garbage.

Funny you mention Feral... They TRIED to forget about her... I don't have the particular issue, but Loeb has her get arrested and go to jail, and clearly planned to leave her there forever. No character mentions her for year. The fans, however, do... In the 25-ish issues I read the last few days... at least 1/3 have a letter printed that asks where Feral is. So while I agree she's the worst of the Rob Liefield-ness, and no one ever fixed her (like Cable and Shatterstar, who overcame that to be decent characters), there are still people out there who are fans.
