Agreed! Decathlon is at least three times the character he is!

I don't know if there's any character in comicdom that is universally panned. Even Ben Reilly has fans. But as for characters that, quite simply, no one cares about, how about Rob Liefeld's Feral: While most of the completely unoriginal characters he shoved into the final issues of New Mutants in order to earn some royalties were pretty forgettable, Feral strikes me as having been the most thoroughly useless, especially since the New Mutants already had a half-wolf girl. Yes, you picked the winner. Liefeld & Nicieza created a new "hero" only to make her incredibly loathsome within a few issues. Might as well just lock the thread now.

Yeah, he was pretty bad... the spot that wouldn't come out of the otherwise stellar Busiek Avengers run. That he was a token minority made it even worse. Doesn't the Avengers have a track record of this? I thought the Falcon was specifically added to the team so they would have a member of a minority group.

I must be the only comics fan out there who actually liked Triathlon (or at least I appreciated the narrative function he was intended to fill). I can think of lots of characters worse than poor Delroy.

Then you need to read more. Try Dell's Frankenstein, Dracula or Werewolf.

I didn't think Triathlon was that bad. Maybe a bit one dimensional.
...see what I did there?

I liked the Detroit League. The storyline where they fought Amazo was the best Amazo story I ever read. It got pretty bad at the end though, but it was never as bad as the scoffers said it was.

I can't think of a specific character but it would probably be a random LoSH or X-Men character...

I can't think of a specific character but it would probably be a random LoSH or X-Men character... That's were I got Mind Meld from (X-Force). I think alot of the others people have mentioned were at least strong enough to come back... hek, Triathlon even came back to be useful during Civil War. I'm not a Legion expert, but Comet Queen's easily my least favorite... the dialogue (which, accoring to the letters page was 'approved' by Keith Giffen's daughter as hip or whatever) give the 60s Titans a run for their money.

The costume was kind of a disaster, but I thought Delroy was an interesting character-- a guy looking for redemption who threw in with a sketchy self-help movement. He was meant to be flawed, but his flaws were relatable.

I'd go for Rage of (incredibly) Avengers and New Warriors 'fame'. What was the point of him? Boring origin - gets hit on the head by radioactive gunk. Boring powers - super strong and...well, that's about it! How long did that take to think up? Terrible costume. Just a bad wrestler. Completely derivative and totally, utterly pointless.
