Did you guys see the the recent ads that were a comic? I think they were for Harley (not sure, some kinda motorcycle).. they had heroes riding the motor cycle fight the wrecking crew, then Loki turns up and saves them or something.. it was a 6 part thing over 6 months in Marvel on the back page. Not quite sure they're the same level as the Hostess ones, though. Stuff like that and the Spider-Man anti-drug 6 parter in the early 00s are just blatent PSA and company buyouts. I want to see weird stuff like potato guns, book safes and the like.... Although the Warren magazines had the coolest adverts. You can get movies, masks and all sorts of craziness... ![](http://36.media.tumblr.com/c83d1dcbf72d620a8ca6911fc56c4020/tumblr_mz5q5nUo8n1ssgloco1_1280.jpg) ![](http://jriveras1970sillustratedscifihorror.files.wordpress.com/2013/06/vampirella-052-1976_0061.jpg?w=377&h=531&crop=1) ![](https://jriveras1970sillustratedscifihorror.files.wordpress.com/2013/06/vampirella-085_0070.jpg?w=770&h=1083&crop=1) As a teenager I attempted to send away for the Cornelius mask only to have it mailed back as the company no longer existed.

Anyone remember this ad? ![](https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-5IdGf7wIV7M/TY4eFCFnqsI/AAAAAAAABgc/8qifz8OHpDw/s1600/golden+-+marvel+universe+-+1982+ad.jpg) I was just a kid, so I sent two quarters, and either it got "lost" or I was supposed to send a check because I never got anything back. I was so happy when it was released many years later as a color poster by Dynamic Forces. It was entitled "The Golden Years" and for me, it really was. It's framed on the wall right next to me now.

I think Warren's business model was based on making more from mail-order products than than magazines. Okay, not quite a comic book advert, but this is too good not to post. Jack Davis artwork..tampons.... go from there Mort Drucker, not Davis. (I'd love to see a Don Martin version)

Anyone ever call up and ask for Bridget? I actually did this and sold this stuff! Sadly, I don't remember much about it, which is too bad since I'm pretty sure Bridget and I would have made a great couple, even though I was only 12. I mean, she's wearing a Jughead crown for goodness sake. I wish I could remember what prize I was trying to get. I wonder if this Captain O booklet is on ebay or anything? Hmm...

I wonder if that number is still in service and what Bridget is up to these days.

OMG ! I'd never seen this one before. Jack Davis is quite the esteemed Southern gentleman. I'm surprised he did this. Here's one I could've used and saved my insurance company $ 500,000. D'oh ! ![](https://41.media.tumblr.com/3665ec26b4605d8c06f4ae2afa9fa360/tumblr_niepriVXix1s2pnhbo5_1280.jpg)

I've got that as a print autographed by Michael Golden. Agreed that was the golden time. THAT'S the Marvel I know and love.

I think I might have posted this when I posted about Devil Dinosaur, but I thought it would be relevant... I thought it was crazy that there were adverts for DC merchandise (stuff like keychains and dinner plates) in a Marvel comic! Clark bar was one, they were giving away something with a bunch of wrappers, and choosing Batman or Superman was an option.. that'd NEVER happen now!

I don't know, I seem to recall seeing the Batman and Superman Got Milk ads in Marvel comics in the 2000's and I think there was a Hulk one a little after that that was seen in DC books as well. Further Smallville advertised in both Marvel and DC when it was on, and since then there have been several movies, both by Marvel and DC, that have been in the books put out by both companies so it's not that unusual and it shouldn't be seen as such either as it's a pure business decision to make money through ads.
