I reviewed my own shortlists for the last vote and found 36 creators, all male. I then looked at my list of 50 favorite comics and found only 1 female writer/artists (there were a few female colorists).
My top 100 comics brings me up to 11 female creators.
I should perhaps make it a point to read more female-helmed comics.

The only writers I can name are Kelly Sue DeConnick (my favorite current writer) and Gail Simmone. I can't name a single artist.

It didn't take me long to come up with 16 artists I like (6 of them writer/artists), but otherwise I have 3-4 writers.

I did not know Jan Duursema was female (or that she was married to Tom Mandrake!) I loved her work on the Elric adaptations.

I'm interested in doing this, but I'll have to dive into my comic books to figure which writers/artists are male or female (European comics usually only list a last name or an alias). So far I have 5 for each list I really like and I don't want to add writers/artists I'm ambivalent about.
Well, still have some time to go to figure it all out.
