How about Victoria Bentley from the old Doctor Strange series? I don't know if she's ever appeared since she was a semi-regular supporting character for several issues in the 60s. Apparently she was killed in Avengers Vol. 1 after befriending the Black Knight and died while fighting a silly villain names Bloodwraith. According to the wiki Deadpool was also involved (circa Avengers 366 or so I guess). I remember Bloodwraith form that period but was part of the jacket-wearing X-wannabe Harras Avengers run, so a lot of it blurs in my minds. -M She became a supporting character for the Black Knight in the 80's, taking care of Dane Whitman's castle while he was off being an Avenger. Bloodwraith was the Black Knight's squire, who became possessed by Dane's cursed Ebony Blade. I always thought Bloodwraith looked pretty cool. The design was good, even though the character was pretty one note. He came back during the Busiek run. The entire population of the tiny European country of Slorenia had been massacred by Ultron. Bloodwraith absorbed the tens of thousands of murdered souls and grew to colossal size. The Avengers weren't really able to defeat him, they just managed to get him mystically sealed off inside the devastated and depopulated nation. When he showed up 300 feet tall looming over the ruined countryside, it was pretty creepy.

Killed by Damian Wayne in Batman & Son arc (#655-658). I have several appearances of the Spook, Detective #435 and #436, and also one from around #490, and I always thought he had a lot of potential for a really solid second-tier villain.
I didn't know he was dead. But I'm sure that was an important plot development because we needed to know what a badasss Damian is and the author couldn't think of any way to show it except by killing a character the author didn't like.
Glad I missed it.
Although given the Spook's shtick is faking his death, it would be easy for a writer to bring him back. Even easier given we don't know his fate in the New 52.

But easiest is still bitching about a mean ol' writer "killing" your esoterically obscure friend.

Yeah, the poor Bat Squad. Somebody needs to bring 'em back.
I miss Ruby Ryder, too.

Here's one for y'all... I was watching the old DC Filmation cartoons from the 70s... did Cairo ever make it into a comic? He was a horrible stereotype, but in the 3 GL eps I have on this DVD, he actually saves Hal in 2 of them, which is pretty hilarious.

After all, it is a thread specifically for lost, strayed, marginal and presumably obscure characters.

Yeah, the poor Bat Squad. Somebody needs to bring 'em back. I miss Ruby Ryder, too. I remember her from a few B and B stories. Surely some writer has explored a link between her and Jack Ryder, aka the Creeper...

Wheres Agatha Harkness been parking her broom lately? I always had a soft spot for old Giant-Man villians. Has anyone seen Egg Head or The Human Top recently? Whirlwind was one of the lead characters in Infinity: Heist. That was a very disappointing mini series about a group of b-list villais. Considering how good Superior Foes of Spider-Man is, I had higher expectations of that title.

I know that on the old boards I was always asking, "whatever happened to so and so" in current comics, since I'm not reading many current titles. So here's a thread devoted to the topic. To start off-- is it still true that no one ever tried to launch any "Contest of Champions" characters in a feature, aside from (faith and begorra) Shamrock? She had a solo story in MCP... I know for sure she's been shown in the MU relatively recently as owning a pub... not sure what book, though... Fearless Defenders, maybe? Didn't Shamrock own a hair salon in Excalibur, sans good luck powers?

Human Cannonball reads like a watered down version of Fawcett's Bulletman.

As the originator of the thread I'm gonna say it can do double-duty for forgotten plotlines, too.
Speaking of the Black Knight, I reread his first solo appearance in MARVEL SUPER-HEROES recently, and I'm going to bet that no one ever revived Roy Thomas' subplot of a magical knife, carved from the same meteor as the Black Blade, which could deal the Knight an unequivocal doom.

It was briefly mentioned during the Magic Arcana oneshot the Black Knight had a few years ago.

The Watcher's Eye made me think....whatever happened to this guy? The Orb. He was awesome in Johnny Blaze Ghost Rider... The Orb plays a part in Marvel's Origin Sin event.... be on the look out. I was surprised they not only brought him back but also Doctor Midas and Exterminatrix. Are G'Nort and Ch'p still around? I'm not sure if he died but I know he was replaced by B'dg.

How about the former Avenger Triathalon? Boy did I dislike him.
