We used to have a thread where folks could post about upcoming books, projects, collections, comics etc. that might interest form members at CBR, so I am reviving it here. First up, I know Shax has become a big Elric fan, even taking the albino as his avatar, and it looks like Elric is moving to yet another comic publisher. This time Titan Books, out of the UK who is looking to make a bigger splash in the US market after acquiring the Dr. Who license when the BBC ended their deal with IDW. Looks like they got the Elric rights too. In September they are publishing a new adaptation of the Ruby Throne...with a new introduction by Moorcock himself. preview here courtesy of CBR. Not quite a classic comic but a classic property anyways -M

I don't know if it was by design that shax was reviewing MoKF when he started but Marvel is bringing Shang Chi back in a 4 issue mini this summer. Can't say I'm necessarily expecting good things from it, but I'm at least curious considering I never thought we'd see the character again.

Can't say I'm necessarily expecting good things from it, but I'm at least curious considering I never thought we'd see the character again. Shang had actually been appearing as part of Secret Avengers for a while before the Marvel Now reboot and as part of Hickman's Avengers afterwards. Not that he was really a good fit for either, but there was an arc by Brubaker I think in Secret Avengers that brought back Shang's father just with a different sobriquet since they could not use Fu Manchu. That said, it's good the Shang get some love in his own series, even if it is a 4 issue mini. -M

Researching a little more, it appears this was a European release being translated into English by/for Titans, so Titan did not acquire the American rights, those may still be with BOOM!. But the book will be available in Sept through Diamond.

Seems like every time I kick off a reviews thread, there's some new long-antocipated comic coming out that relates to it, and this is never by design. Planet of the Apes, Magnus Robot Fighter, the Grant/Breyfogle Batman, etc. Weird.

Sergio Aragones' Funnies is moving from Bongo to Dark Horse and I'm sure the new volume will continue to include autobiographical stories from Sergio's life in classic comics.

I forget which thread people were discussing Blacksad in, but it looks like Dark Horse is releasing a new volume translated into English; it's in their August solicitations...

Finally DC put out a respectable trade of the first 12 issues of the John Ostrander Spectre series. This is one of my favorite comic runs of all time. Originally, DC put out a trade of the first 6 (long out of print), only to cover half of the 12 issue arc. I'm hoping this sells well enough that all 64 issues will get a trade treatment.

But it had a glow in the dark cover......it still sits on my shelf face out to get the glow in the dark effect. I had asked my local shop owner to order this, but apparently he didn't, so I may Amazon it to get a better price since he missed his chance to get my money on it. -M

Yeah, my LCS didn't order either but he placed it for me. I too have the trade and all the issues. That's one run I pull out every year and re-read. Some of those issues makes me mistyeyed to this day.
